How much "obsolete" technology do you use?
I freshly grind my coffee each morning, and use either a french press or hand pump espresso machine. If tea is preferred, I boil some water in a tea kettle, and pour it over loose leaves in a tea pot, while minding a sand-timer for optimal steeping time. I cook my breakfast in a cast iron pan...- tapehiss

Problem with foobar2000 ASIO output via my DAC
Thanks all, that was it: the DAC was simply disabled in ASIO4ALL. Works like a charm now! And as far as the power wiring...I'll do some more investigation. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something common first. Thanks again.- tapehiss

Problem with foobar2000 ASIO output via my DAC
Hi all. I'm struggling to get some ASIO output to my DAC from within foobar2000 using ASIO4ALL. The DAC shows up fine in foobar. It is listed as an output device: "DS: USB Audio DAC". I can select this, play music and everything is dandy. Now I've been wanting to give ASIO a try, so I installed...- tapehiss

What is your age/occupation?
Such a huge variation of ages here! That's really cool. Not something you see on most forums. 28/computer programmer. Currently doing javascript-heavy web development, and previously was doing high availability multi-threaded server applications. Not too sure which I like better yet.- tapehiss

Analog to Digital
Wanna know a really easy way to make this happen? Buy a Gemini iKey plus. It retails for around $125 or so, but you can occasionally find them cheaper on Ebay/etc (there was even a couple demo models up on NeedleDoctor for awhile). I picked up one a couple months ago for around $80. All you do...- tapehiss

Wadia 170i transport+ipod classic vs. usb drive
I kind of doubt your receiver has a DAC that you can route digital signals to. It's possible that I'm wrong, but I've just never seen that functionality on a receiver before. Therefore, if you got the Wadia and hooked it up directly to your receiver, the Wadia would actually be using your ipod's...- tapehiss

Wadia 170i transport+ipod classic vs. usb drive
I don't know all too much about the Wadia or your receiver, but as far as I'm aware, the only real reason to go with the Wadia would be if you had an external DAC. The Wadia allows the music to be pulled off of your ipod in straight digital, then you're free to process it however you'd like. If...- tapehiss

are there tube amps out there that can power all these phones
One more tube amp to add to the list: the DNA Sonett. It does a great job of powering my K701s, HD650's, and HF-2s. It has an impedance switch (120ohm/28ohm), so it manages well with both high and low impedance headphones.- tapehiss

Need a custom dustcover for my TT
I highly recommend talking to a local plastic shop first. They'll make you exactly what you want without any hi-fi markups. I got mine for ~$80, and it's sturdy and looks great.- tapehiss

Pictures of Your Vinyl Setup!
Thanks! The SL 1200 is great, you'll love it! My collection is mostly various forms of punk rock, synth/electonic, jazz, blues, and anything experimental or that looks like it may be interesting. I've barely listened to any disco, but that sounds like a lot of fun. I was at a flea market today...- tapehiss
