imo, without EQ, J3 is unlistenable with any headphone or earphone, yes, it is that bad. J3 is designed for EQ fan boys. I am in principle against using EQ in any music equipment for serious listening, EQ distorts SQ.

ditching video function? i agree 100%, please ditch touch screen too and shrink screen to no more than 2". Don't forget all hardware buttons. 

I got sflo2 when it was first released in late 2009, it is still doing very well, I alway use the charger coming with it. Roughly the player is used 10hrs/week

yeh, got panasonic dvd-s97 last summer from garage sale for 20 bucks, plays dvd-audio.

bought Beatles Love cd + dvd-audio, love it.

I chip in here, just got a very slim odd-shaped iriver imp900 with remote, original sennheiser headphone, battery case and leather case. It is pretty good in SQ, really amazing me is it takes less 1 second to read a CD and start to play. It has line-out i haven't try but no optical or digital out.

Cowon J3 is a very popular media player, i saw people rave about its SQ, but i am very disappointed, so i want to seek your opinion on J3 SQ, does it meet your expectation?
