Yeah even though it fits, it definitely doesn't look aesthetically pleasing. Part of the reason I returned it and went back to stock.- sysfail

It's not a problem, it'll still stretch to fit to the circle shape. I still preferred the stock pads over them though, but they are nice pads for the money.- sysfail

I had the same issue with the stock D7200 when I first got it. Sounded too congested and had shouty upper-mids/lower-treble. Following zolkis’ suggestion, I opened up the cups and took out the stock dampening material and replaced it with dense Creatology felt + foam material against the flat...- sysfail

Yeah you will have to use a little force just slowly fold the pad away and give a slight bend to the ring for it to slip out.- sysfail

No plans of dropping by Warsaw anytime in the near future, but I do appreciate the offer! If I happen to find a set of cheaper SR900 pads I'll be sure to give them a shot.- sysfail

The Stax Thread III
Thanks for the clarification. So for my setup, this basically means if I were to leave my powered speakers on with the volume up, music would play through my Stax L300 and my speakers simultaneously. Looks like I'll just have to turn down the volume down on the speakers if I want to listen...- sysfail

Quick question regarding the "parallel out" on the Stax SRM-252S, going from PC > Schiit Modi DAC > SRM-252S > powered bookshelf speakers. If I usually leave my powered speakers on 24/7, will sound come out from both the Stax L300 connected to the SRM-252S AND the powered bookshelf speakers? Or...- sysfail

Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread
Yeah I remember reading at least a couple people preferred the L300 to the L300LE. I really need to find a way to compare the two, that's going to be tough.- sysfail

Oh nice, at $50 I wouldn't hesitate to give the 009 pads a try. But yes, $150 is a bit crazy. Unless everyone agreed that it'll make the D7200 the absolute best closed back headphones on the market. I may invest the money if that was the case.- sysfail

Just curious of the sound difference and if it is worth the price jump over to the L300LE. I guess I'll wait to give a listen to the L300 + L700 pads first before deciding if an upgrade is even necessary or not. Maybe I'll end up loving the sound the way it is.- sysfail

Right, I've read that here. I was looking for more sound comparisons from people who had heard both specifically using the L700 pads.- sysfail

That's good to know, thanks for the impressions with the various pads! Now...to drop $150 on earpads or not, that's the question...price is so steep for earpads lol.- sysfail

Stax SR-L300 Impressions Thread
That's true, but price is also a pretty significant jump from the L300, and I've already spent too much this past month lol. I figured at the L300 price, the law of diminishing returns would kick in significantly. But if the improvements are truly significant, I may really consider making that...- sysfail

Grado Fan Club!
I do agree. After trying out the flat pads, L-pads, and G-pads on my modded SR80i and GH2. The L-pads are just bad both in comfort and sound for both of my Grados. The flat pads worked best for my modded SR80i giving them a real engaging sound that I love from Grados. The G-pads just made them...- sysfail
