ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
I purchased my Aeolus headphones second hand. The owners' card has a 2022 date of production. Came with the universal lambskin perforated earpads and the owner had ordered the hybrid pads as second choice. My headphones have three holes in the baffles.- SMG52

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
If anyone is interested in this sort of music (a favorite of mine) this seventeen year old girl is a blues singer/picker phenom from Ireland. In over 40 years of being into this audio hobby, I have never heard a more lifelike recording. I don't know if that applies to streaming as I have the cd...- SMG52

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
In reading that a number of people seem to prefer the Atrium Open with the solid mesh, I took a look at the solid mesh on the ZMF website. I assume it must be porous to some degree, unless the sound travels by 'vibrating' the mesh itself, which is hard to imagine. I assume it can only block so...- SMG52

Thank you everyone for your generous responses regarding any treble issues with the Atrium open. I still have them in my sights. :L3000:- SMG52

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Good question. I suppose a bit more in the lower bass region. More spacious soundstage. More of what the Aeolus does well, but not trying to 'correct' anything about the Aeolus. I suppose some of the interest has been in response to the consistency to what many have reported about the Atrium...- SMG52

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
I realize we all tend to hear things somewhat differently and that our audio chain feeding out headphones has a great impact on the end result, but these comments about some treble harshness some are experiencing with the Atrium open is giving me pause. I am presently using a pair of Aeolus with...- SMG52

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
My Aeolus headphones, which I had purchased second hand, came with the universal lambskin pads as well as a set of hybrid pads. Since the hybrid pads were already on the headphones, I was using them for a while, then switched to the lambskin pads and was happy with them. I was curious about the...- SMG52

What he says. :) Jonathan recommended this amp for my Aeolus headphones. I kept an eye on the classifieds and scored a mint condition WA3. It's a ridiculously great value, a jewel of an amp.- SMG52

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
Interesting. I still have a pair of Van den Hul The First single ended interconnects. Always liked them. Very nice treble....no etch or brightness at all. Have not compared it with the Mogami, but then again you say The Second is not similar in sound to The First anyway.- SMG52

Mogami 2549 for my single ended interconnect, purchased from 10audio. I believe the fella at 10audio finds that a different Mogami wire sounds better for balanced applications. Don't know which one that would be, though.- SMG52

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
In my many years in the audio hobby, I have used a multitude of different brand interconnects and speaker wires. I agree with those of you who feel there IS a sonic difference among cables (including usb cables). What I am presently using in my headphone system between the Oppo BD105 and the...- SMG52

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
Thanks for the responses about balanced vs single ended. The interconnect I'm using is not very expensive (by 'high end' standards ) and I like it very much, so it may be worth buying one wired for balanced use. With regard to (the clue) speakers, yes I like them a lot. I've had so many...- SMG52

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
I have a V200 driving a set of LCD-X headphones. Love it. I use the Oppo BDP105 as front end. The 105 has balanced outputs, but I am presently using the single ended connection from the Oppo to the V200. Is there any consensus (tricky, I know) about whether balanced out from the 105 to balanced...- SMG52

Audeze LCD-X
Not to give you even more work , but when things settle down, it would be interesting to hear how your turntable/phono front end compares to a current decent dac; maybe not so much as apples to apples (different technologies, after all) but just in terms of overall enjoyment?- SMG52
