I love my DT770s. They're my favorite headphone out of the ones I own.   I have Grado SR-80i, and while they're an excellent headphone for $100, I think you could find better headphones for a little more. I also own the AKG K240, and they're superior in just about every way to the Grado. ...

It's pretty easy to reterminate any cable. Just buy a plug, cut the stock one off, and solder the new one on at the length you desire.

If you haven't already, you can get either leather or gel pads for the DT770. Both increase isolation over the stock velour considerably.

The Denons do well with 70's rock. But I think they're a bit slow for metal.

I agree the DT770 Pro need an amp. I imagine the 250ohm consumer version even moreso. Also, the K240 do much better with an amp.
