Atoms For Peace - AMOK
Yep. That group started taking a departure from alt. rock with OK Computer (some might argue The Bends). That is when I started getting more and more into radiohead, but others went the other way and I understand that. They changed their style, and that alienated some and drew in others. Atoms...- silverharbinger

Atoms For Peace - AMOK
The album was very solid, and most of the tracks were great, but seeing them live is just infinitely better than the album. I haven't been this surprised by the difference in a long time. They are tearing it up out there!- silverharbinger

Top 5 Radiohead songs
I'm back from going to the Atoms for Peace concert on Monday. **HOLY CRAP** they are really good! The albums they play from are great (they also played Paperbag Writer from a radiohead b-side at my show), but it doesn't do their live show performances any justice. Neither do any of the clips...- silverharbinger

REVIEW: Ray Samuels Audio SR-71B balanced portable headphone amp
Maybe I'm mistaken on this, but I thought that the 71-B did not have a DAC. The website doesn't mention it at all.- silverharbinger

24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!
I had that thought too, and for people with tinnitus and all the other nasty conditions it would be amazing, but I hope it doesn't happen in my lifetime. Having to constantly update my gear *AND* my eyes, ears, tongue, etc.? Plus, just imagine all the aftermarket ear mods that will be offered...- silverharbinger

24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!
Not to get too far off the subject, but this thread is an incredible resource. I know it helped me to understand that more isn't really better in audio file formats in a much better way than I was able to piece together over the years. I mean, I could never hear a difference past 16-bit in...- silverharbinger

REVIEW: Ray Samuels Audio SR-71B balanced portable headphone amp
After several weeks into using the device I think it's time for a follow-up. The initial amp I received that I had detected some timing issues with became much worse the following day. It developed quite a bit of static and had volume adjustment issues. I worked with Ray on it, who was prompt...- silverharbinger

First pair of headphones, aviators
The OP had mentioned amping, so that's why I suggested the HD600's. It really depends on what you want. If you're looking more for isolation you can go closed ear, but to me if you're going to go over the ear why not get open phones for the best presentation? If you're looking for isolation...- silverharbinger

Double Helix Cables Thread
My fusions came in yesterday. They look phenomenal, but due to a miscommunication the headphone cable will have to be re-terminated to get an RSA connector put on. I could provide pics, but they would be the same as nbarnard's. When I get the 4-pin connector I'll post them up. I don't think I've... -
First pair of headphones, aviators
I'm thinking $250-300. That gets you in the range of something like the HD600's which are liked by many a head-fier.- silverharbinger

First pair of headphones, aviators
In that price range I've heard that the Koss Porta Pro and the Sennheiser PX-200 are worth the money. Then again, there are quite a few iems in the $70-100 range that are a tad colored but sound very good. Frankly, if you go past $100 you might as well look to spend another $150 to get into some...- silverharbinger

Top 5 Radiohead songs
I saw quite a bit of coverage from the London shows. They were there for two days I think. The art room and clips I saw looked pretty cool. I'm hoping they setup something similar to that at the stadium. Did Thom wear that hooded robe the whole time? (<-Hysterical, btw) Who was the opening act...- silverharbinger

Double Helix Cables Thread
He's got some compatibility with other IEMs with that cable I think, but I agree that it's pretty expensive. At least with my Shure cable it will work with all Shure IEMs. I might buy a pair of 846s down the road. -
Top 5 Radiohead songs
I'm listening to Down is the New Up from that album right now. When they were doing alternative rock albums I liked them alright, but when they started going more and more into electronic/ambient I got more and more into the group. Street Spirit and Just are great though, a lot of that material...- silverharbinger
