I don't think you'd run into any problems if the amp still had adequate cooling. My Mac Mini sits on top of another component and I've never had heat issues.

I think the Peachtree Audio Nova 125 and Decco 65 both fit the bill, but they also have amplifier sections too for running external speakers.

Yes, mine was an OfficeMax purchase about 8 years ago as well. It's really nice and functional, but not exactly the best build quality.

There's a whole lot of savings to be had if you install the SSD yourself instead of buying from Apple. Their component prices are far too high.
