    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

wmischke--thank you so much for your informative response. I especially appreciate your comments about the various players you use. I have been looking at lots of DAPs, and I've seen the Shanling, but I didn't give it much consideration because I was concerned that while one-handed operation is...

    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

Can I ask a (potentially) stupid question? I have used low-end players in the past and they invariably booted to their own firmware player/interface. When these modern, dedicated Hi-Fi DAPs are based on Android, does that mean that they boot to standard Android and you then then choose any...

    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

Thanks for the recommendation. The screen looks beautiful. eBay seems to be selling them at around ~$200.

    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

Thanks for your recommendation, dougms3. I checked it out and it looks like a great player. I struggle to evaluate a player without either having used it or seeing a review where people discuss the interface. Typically, Hi-Fi player reviews spend a lot of time talking about the sonic...

    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

Thanks m-i-c-k-e-y!!! This looks like a really good option I hadn't considered. I'll check them out on eBay. I'm not familiar with LG phones...if anyone has further recommendations on which model, I'm all ears. Thanks again.

    Seeking lower-end DAP Recommendation

I'm looking for a recommendation for a DAP. I plan to use it in my car to listen to lectures (mostly), but also music. I'm not an audiophile, so I'd imagine that any of the DAPs out there today would have sufficient audio quality. My files are MP3/WMA/FLAC. I require the the DAP have the...

Seeking Recommendations on a 120GB+ Player

Thanks for the recommendation, Ashton18.  What are the advantages of using Rockbox over something like WinAmp that can transcode the files into Apple's acceptable formats? The interface looks pretty Spartan compared to the usual Ipod interface.

Seeking Recommendations on a 120GB+ Player

controllerboy and adamantium--Thanks for the suggested options with the iPod Classic....Rockbox will apparently play all of my files in their native format....I presume that Winamp will transcode WMA/FLAC files to formats the iPod will play?   MarkIV--would love to get the AK100...and...

Seeking Recommendations on a 120GB+ Player

Thanks for the response rossntu. I've looked at the iPod Classic and may bite on it, but I'm annoyed by iTunes and it's limited support for file formats (e.g., WMA, FLAC).   I was hoping that one of the higher end players could handle 128GB cards (or two 64GB cards).   Just thinking through...

Seeking Recommendations on a 120GB+ Player

I am looking for a Digital Audio Player that can store 120+ GB of music and lectures.   At the risk of losing credibility on this forum, I have to say I'm much of an audiophile...I currently use an older Creative Vision: M player upgraded with an 80GB hard drive, and the sound has been "good...
