The All New Earsonics SM3 Appreciation, Discussion and Review Thread!
guess thats good then.. was always wondering why people were calling the SM3s treble shy when i found them quite detailed and sometimes a bit too much after extended listening... guess now i know why :-) (at least its not my ears being different from the norm) but the filters included in the RE0...- raff012

The All New Earsonics SM3 Appreciation, Discussion and Review Thread!
i checked the mod for the filter and found it intresting enough to try out.... but when i inserted the bobby pin there was no such filter in mine.... I have always found my SM3s foward sounding with extended treble almost on par with RE0s while others commented that the treble was a bit...- raff012

The All New Earsonics SM3 Appreciation, Discussion and Review Thread!
Quote: like photofan1986 i only really started to appreciate my SM3s after 3-4 weeks. At first i really prefered my RE-zeros (bought around the same time) but after listening to them for a long while there is something in the presentation of sound (not frequency response more like...- raff012

Safe listening volumes?
just thought that i would add my two cents... i usually do all my IEM listening calibrated at ~80dB SPL using iphone software resulting in ~70dB at eardrum (avg of 2cm depth resulting in ~10dB drop) whereas i find that i need about 85dB ( between 75 and 80dB at ear drum) SPL when using fullsize...- raff012

RE-ZERO: Photos & First Thoughts - Now with Review Links!
Quote: I have a custom 47ohm impedence adaptor which when combined with the RE-zeros brings their impedence to RE-0 level (63ohm vs 64ohm) which reduces the hiss (none even at 7x gain) and really enhances their performance when running from my RA1 custom fullsize headphone amp ( amazing...- raff012

INTRO to Electrostats -- Placed my first STAX order!!!!! *PICS*

RE-ZERO: Photos & First Thoughts - Now with Review Links!
RE-zero does alot of things well, it has amazing clarity and bass response is thicker in comparison to RE0 with the same extended highs but not as sparkly ( a bit less high end energy) which is good as this brings a more balanced sound IMO (abit still more foward sounding). now the SM3 improves...- raff012

EarSonics SM3 Appreciation, Discussion, & Review Thread - Technically Best Universal? (see first post for reviews and info)
Quote: I do agree with u Kubus, the cost of most portable amps are definitely not justified by the potential SQ increase ( definately not the high end portable amps) but thare may be some exceptions out there and with so many users selling their stuff there are potential deals to be had...- raff012

RE-ZERO: Photos & First Thoughts - Now with Review Links!
probably just past 100 hour mark now and i really enjoy the sound sig.. feels like the mids have dropped a bit, bass has tightened/ increased and the treble has increased a few dB which i do very much enjoy (could be head burnin).. kudos to head direct . i find i am swapping between the RE-ZEROs...- raff012
