How good is audio quality on Galaxy Note?
Quote: Thanks for your answer. I did suspect that since Galaxy note has the same infamous yamaha DAC than Galaxy SII but on gsmarena they say "note has excellent audio output" or something like that. So I wondered if that's really true. Too bad that a device which costs 600$ sounds like...- pterodactilo

How good is audio quality on Galaxy Note?
Many people complain about the low quality dac in galaxy S2. Does the note share the same problem?- pterodactilo

Shure SRH 940 impression and support thread
If I liked the sound signature of AKG K601, will I love the Shure SRH 940? The reviews made so far suggest both are similar.- pterodactilo

AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!
I'm a proud owner of these headphones since a year ago and I can't but praise them. I don't understand people who complain about the bass. Definitely these headphones have good bass extension when properly amplified. I use a portable amplifier, mini^3 , nothing exceptional but they can drive the...- pterodactilo

A Very Compact Hybrid Amp
What a pity! . I 've finished one Mini 3 and one gamma1+gamma2 and was interested in this amp as my next DIY project. It seems like a step up from Mini 3 yet not very expensive to build and compact. Also I am very intrigued by the tubes , not to mention that they look so cool. Ok, let's wait...- pterodactilo

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
Quote: amb, I don't have a camera to take high res pics, but I've made some progress. I've reflowed U5's pin 22. Since it is connected to U2's out I think it was shorted or something and that provoked U2 to output 0 Volts. Now when gamma 1 and gamma2 are mated together the two...- pterodactilo

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
Quote: Thanks for your help, I know that without pictures it's hard to say where the problem may be but right now I only have my nokia 5800 which makes horrid photos . I've shorted JP2D(3-2) and in this case gamma1 works with gamma2 mated to it. This apparently points to U1D once...- pterodactilo

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
Quote: What puzzles me is the fact that this only happens when y1 is mated to the y2 board. I've tested y1 alone and when dac and usb sections are connected with wires all test points give the correct values and U1D's pin 7 sends the correct voltage: 4.80 volts or so when USB cable is...- pterodactilo

Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread
From the gamma 1 thread Quote: My bad, I forgot to specify which 5V test points I am refering to. It's the opposite: 5V (VCC) reads 1.38Volts and 5V (VBUS) 4.87V. I used the USB cable only to power the boards. If I connect the wallwart too I get the following voltages: 5V (VBUS) ...- pterodactilo

y1 gamma-1 DAC
I checked orientation of the oscillator (the abracon one) and the mount surface chips. Also I have replaced U2 and U1 and reflowed all pins of U4 and U5 (I don't see any obvious bridges) but still nothing. If that helps the voltages I get on the gamma2 board are: 5V test point : 4.86 V...- pterodactilo

y1 gamma-1 DAC
Quote: It is fully populated. I should have installed only the pin headers and receptacles and then test the gamma 1 board but since gamma 1 works properly when the dac and usb sections are connected with a ribbon cable and all test points read the correct voltages I assume that the...- pterodactilo
