Quote:   It's my first at least. :) There are a couple out there that I saw. One was for a click-fit made fully of 3d-printed parts.   I wanted to use the grado drivers, since I love my SR60's. Plus I wanted them to have the proper feel to it. So I adopted my initial design for a...

I went a bit more overboard with my mod..actually..all that will be left are the drivers and the headband.. Soundwise I can't tell much as of yet, since  I don't have the proper version (3d) printed yet. I need to make a set of custom foams, any idea where I can order the right type of foam...

Bits n bobs arrived for my headphones..making new cables for the modification I'm doing. Any last minute tips concerning a recable? Does one braid have an advantage over another?

Quote:   Finally had some playtime with the laser cutter! Design is finished, but ran short in time to cut all the rings. I'm missing a grill and the smaller diameter ring after the cushion right now. Also i need to design the rings to hold the driver down, but I can't measure that...

I've been quiet for a while now.. Ditched the full-on design in Solidworks and wanted to give the lasercutter a chance. Got a similar to original design ligned up, ready to be cut. All I need now is a slate of 8mm plexiglass, to complete the required materials. Expect pictures very soon :)

Been playing around further with solidworks, really getting the hang of it now. Still no concrete plans as to really making a set, but have been contemplating MDF + bondo/filler + spray paint = Shiny Should give a nice bling factor... So far I have modeled the driver housing, the covers...

Quote: CNC potentially can cut all materials, you're just very dependent on cooling and so on. And the router size is very important. I have a small cutting bed, made out of MDF. This limits my options in what I can cut. Besides, glass is just too damn heavy and would be prone to...

Little update.   Being the impatient one I decided to make a styrofoam try, to see if I got all my settings in solidcam right. Which I don't, seeing that the text falls over the chamfer. Chamfer has to be set smaller, I think it's an error in the diameter setting of my chamfer drill.  ...

Quote:   Good to know that the acoustics are not affected by a unibody. Thruth be told, unibody would be easier to design, since the innards would be just straight with a lip. But where is the challenge in that. Plastic vs. wood will always be a trade-off in wall size, since plastic is...

I'm not trying to make too much plans as of yet, since I am still on the learning curve in 3d design. First goal is to get an accurate model designed. The Grado models are pretty basic, which makes them ideal candidates to further learn Solidworks.   From what I can see the design is pretty...

Hi everyone,   Recently I bought a Grado SR60i and not short after a second pair, which I intend to use as a test-subject for mods (and on the road where the cans might get damaged).   One of the more easy MODS I should be able to do is a new housing, since I own a small CNC machine...
