PLANAR IEMs fans thread-Impressions, suggestions, ranking list, techs

Yes that was my understanding as well based on these different Harman target curves: No matter now much your own tastes match the harman target, there is indeed a +4db shelf on the in-ear target versus over-ear. I'm not sure about the technical explanation for that but it does correlate with...

PLANAR IEMs fans thread-Impressions, suggestions, ranking list, techs

Is there any planar IEM with a flat bass profile and neutral target curve? I find it funny that almost all planar headphones have a flat bass but in the IEM world a minimum 5db boost has become the standard for everyone. I don't mind a slightly boosted bass but I think it's a bit too much if I...

    Best IEM tips?

The Spinfit CP500 are really worth having in your collection. They have a sound that is very airy and laid-back at the same time, which is not common. It's like a more open and impactful version of the Epro tips with a sightly more bland timbre. I find that they work really nice with the...

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis

What's really interesting is his take on the different driver technologies though. We need more of these perspectives. These days I feel like the over abundance of headphones tends to blur the lines between dynamics, planars and electrostats. I haven't had the chance to hear any of the Raal...

Elevate Your Audeze Maxwell Experience with Dekoni Audio's New Premium Earpads

Interesting, the leather pads might really improve sound quality (especially timbre) on top of improving the bass response.

    Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)

Sounds like a great move from Stax, a cheaper and more modern design with a more laid-back tuning is exactly what they needed to get back in the game. Curious to hear the improved bass rendition.

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

I tested them while commuting and I don't think they work very well in noisy environnements in general, it's almost a semi-open design if you look at the vent on the top. It has its benefits though as you are more aware of your environment. I feel like an open design would be perfect for...

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

Very intrigued by this Japanese brand, they have a Bluetooth planar closed-back (WA-Z1PNK) with double-sided magnets which is unusual for a portable format. You can hear a lot of bass and dynamics compared to the Edifier S3 during the live comparison at 13:30, which is exactly what is missing...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

I'd been curious lately to get my first wireless headset so I bought the Moondrop Space Travel, mainly because of their cheap price and overall neutrality, and I must say that not only do they sound very good for the price, but to my surprise I've been using them way more than my daily drivers...

    Best IEM tips?

The Epros are even better if you manage to get a good fit. They're famous for taming the highs. I like the Sennheiser too because they're as comfy as the Spiral dots and have a smoother tonality and timbre (probably because they have an additional foam filter inside).

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

Got the Space Travel as a wireless headset for the office and I'm quite impressed for the price. They fare pretty well tonality-wise compared to the RE400 with the monitor setting and some good tips (using Sennheiser IE pro tips which enhance the default bass response). The RE400 has a slight...

Sennheiser IE pro silicone and Epro EP01 work well for that with my OG timeless. Favorite tips so far.
