DAC/AMP for SE846
Hello all, i was about to pull the trigger on Dragonfly Red, as impedance is quite low ~ 0.6 but than i found that they say it is not supposed to drive earphones with less than 10-12 ohms. 846 is a 9ohm earphone. I see people suggest chord mojo, which is not really in my budget atm...- lksndr

It was It was hurting me also, but now they've lost that ability to spread, so its almost like having customs, they have shape of my ear canal. A bit harder to get proper seal now, but still works very nice once seal is achieved ... I'm just worried for hygienic reasons ...- lksndr

Give it some time ... and by that I mean up to a month. To me, out of the box they sounded like 215, after a long time it got to what I was would be from the get go judging by reviews.- lksndr

Ok, I take back everything I said. Something finally burnt in, being it my head, or ears, or earphone itself or everything. Bass is no longer blocking anything, highs are not harsh, everything is deeper and wider in all dimensions, more present and in the right place. I don't feel the...- lksndr

Would this DAC/AMP be sufficient for HE400S also? If you are running LCD-X, it should be more than enough? Neither 846 or HE400 are power hungry, so i decided to sell my apogee groove, and im looking into something similar, and this dragonfly is almost the same, I'm just wondering about...- lksndr

It is hard to explain really, bass does not interfere with mids, but it also doesn't let them in front, like 535 does. On 535 once mids come into play bass would lower itself (not just in terms of volume but in terms of visual image in the mind) and mids would be clearly in front, and in...- lksndr

Wow. Is there anybody who is using 846 with the stock cable? :) Are differences only ergonomic or sq also? What kind of source would one need for the cable to become weak link? If i am planing to buy fiio dac/amp for now, would i be able to hear difference?- lksndr

Guys, please help! Im still strugling with my 846 sound ... Tried yellow foam tips, they give me headache, i have small ear canal I usually use smallest silicone tips, but they seem to give me too much treble. Bass toned down a bit, but sound is too dependent on the source right...- lksndr

I have apogee, that i use with HE400, but it turns out it doesent work well with multiBA, so I'm using my laptop soundcard for now :\ Definitely doesn't have too much bass in terms of neutral or natural. It is more the anomaly or imperfection on 535 that i like. Bass in electronic music...- lksndr

I kinda liked bass on 535 more. I listen to a lot of electronic music, and on 535 bass would "go away" once mids come into play, but here that is not the case. I suppose this is better in terms of fidelity, but i feel like i was much closer to mids with 535, here bass is standing in...- lksndr

All of theese exceed my budget ... on the other hand for almost all of them on the list, i found bad sides of them like re-400 build quality and lack of bass, JVC HA-FXT90 is harsh on the highs, others are flat while most of them are just rolled over to soon, so im completely lost now ...- lksndr
