UNIFi, good to hear a voice of reason. As soon as I see the words "burn in" in a comment, I stop reading. Burn in is so utterly stupid. B&W says it correctly in their manuals that once a speaker is delivered to your home and the physical moving parts reach the ambient temperature in your home...

    FiiO EO9K

Headphone suggestions for tight heavy bass. Of course mids and highs are not discounted by any means but I'm a bass lover. Mostly metal and electronic trance and Balearic beat. Source is iTunes from an iMac 27inch mid 2011.   Thanks.   BTW, this FiiO is quite the little performer. HUGE...

When discussing the 3d toggle, what does ""basically" no effect whatsoever" mean?

iFi one component at a time.

Sure will K. My first mid/high end headphone rig. I'm looking forward to it.

iFi one component at a time.

Months of research. Lot's of very good options and I've settled on iFi. I plan on incorporating three of their components but want to hear results one component at a time with a month or two between purchases.   System: Mid 2011 iMac 27 inch. AH-D600 phones.   First, the ICAN...

Help! Looking for help finding an AMP to fully power 250 ohm cans.

Quote: I'm new to headphones but as a lifelong very serious high end audiophile in home audio, the DAC is everything to the sound signature. The speaker itself is of course the most critical but the DAC design is a close second. It is what creates the analog tone you will hear through your...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

Yes, I agree and can easily see the Pro 900 growing on a person. It has it's good qualities and no doubt after some good listening time those qualities would be further appreciated. It is a good headphone.

Closed cans heavy in the bass

As I continue comparing I find additional observations. While listening to Tony Joe White & Shelby Lynne singing Can't Go Back Home of the Heroins Album, Miss Lynne sounds like she's expanded and singing in my face right in front of me with the d600. The same track with the Pro 900 is more...

Help with my first pair of headphones

I'm new at this too my friend. But I've been in high end home audio for many years. I would highly recommend and suggest considering Denon d600's. I have them on my head right now and they are producing music quality reminding me of some of the best gear I've heard. Check out my comments here...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

I'll tell you what. I've been sitting here with these Denon d600's on my head and find myself tapping my foot while reading and becoming more and more engaged with the music even forgetting I have a pair of cans on my head. I'm beginning to think Denon has the signature sound for me. I'm...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

Quote: I have them on my head right now and you're right. It makes a huge difference. However, when placed of axis I loose a significant amount of mids. Putting them back on my head I must reiterate that the bass to me is truly nicely done by Ultrasone. Accurate, punchy and engaging. But...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

Quote: I did not try any of these but hopefully now that I've refined my taste and desire with a few auditions, would you still suggest these three or perhaps something else?   I think what I'm looking for is this. The Denon d600 really had the "analog Macintosh" warmth and a musically...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

Ok here it is. As I sit here and A/B the Pro 900 and the d600 it is quite easy to hear stark differences. The d600 is far more engaging than the Pro 900. The 900 excels in just one area, it has a certain way of delivering bass that is punchy, accurate and addictive. Other than that the Denon...

Closed cans heavy in the bass

I just received the Denon d600 and the Ultrasone Pro 900 today for a test drive. I'll post my initial thoughts a bit later today as I compare the two. Great price range and perhaps one will suite me. If not, I'll move up the food chain a bit. Stay tuned.
