I'm very happy with my Shure SE215 - these made me realize iem's can just as/very nearly as good as full sized headphones. Just my $.02- JasonD

Kernel Streaming troubles with Foobar - used to work
Yeah I'm not really worried about the "integrity of the data stream" or anything. I just remembered things sounding a little.. maybe better seperated would be how I would describe it, with the KS. Quite possibly placebo, but I figured it was worth asking if someone knew what was up. Guess I'm...- JasonD

Kernel Streaming troubles with Foobar - used to work
I can live with DS, and that's probably what I'll do. I just figure if I go through the trouble buying expensive (to me) equipment and getting the right formats/software for my music, there's no reason to spend a little extra time setting it up so my PC plays it as perfectly as possible. ...- JasonD

Kernel Streaming troubles with Foobar - used to work
Recently I had some issues with my computer sound and I've gone through some pretty weird problems trying to fix it all. I have an Onkyo SE-200PCI LTD sound card with the most-current drivers installed. I used to have KS working fine through foobar. I don't know what happened that threw a...- JasonD

Where does my soundcard stand?
If I remember correctly, PA2V2 is just an amp (no DAC), which means you're just using the onboard computer soundcard. Listen for yourself and see if you hear any problems/noise. :)- JasonD

buying my first quality headphones, need some help!
My first pair was some Grado SR-60i's. I gotta say I don't regret that purchase at all. You could technically get a bit higher on the Grado ladder for your budget, but I'm not sure I would get anything above the SR-60 until the SR-225. One thing I do wish I did from the beginning was...- JasonD

Just Ordered Grado SR325i
I picked up some SR-325is's about two weeks ago and they are just awesome! I admit I don't love the chrome finish, but you can't have everything I guess. I was worried about them being too bright/sibilant, however I found that not to be the case, for my taste anyways. I wonder if my amp has...- JasonD

Is there a simple USB DAC solution better than Streamer II+?
I'm curious as well, anyone know how this would stack up to, say, the Musiland Monitor 02? I know the Streamer II+ is a price-bracket ahead, but it relies on the USB power.- JasonD

SR60-Mod
Quote: I love that final product. Super classy look, especially with how well the leather matches the wood's tone pretty well. Big thumbs up =]- JasonD

If the AKG K701 is great for acoustic, maybe classical but
+1 with what they said, hehe. I bought the K701 as a step up from my SR-60i and I was somewhat disappointed. I even have an ASL MG-Head OTL (Mk II tho, I don't really know how different it might be to the newer Mk III) and I still don't love them for rock/anything where bass matters really...- JasonD

Going Audiophile For Gaming!
I'd recommend reading through at least the first page or two of this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/534479/mad-lust-envy-aka-shin-cz-s-guide-to-headphone-gaming-particularly-with-dolby-headphone I know it's been referred to at least but I don't know if it's been asked...- JasonD

SR60-Mod
Yep! That's the headband thread I was planning on following. Looks like a good place to start. I was thinking maybe finding some kind of memory foam sample or something to use for the padding. Might be too much hassle tho. Bilavideo you're a machine! Those look great- JasonD

SR60-Mod
Haha can't say I would have ever thought to use frickin' laser beams to DIY a headband for my headphones. I feel like that should go in the "you know you're an audiophile when" thread. Totally awesome. PS: The headband looks awesome. I'm also debating about a DIY leather headband...- JasonD
