digital audio to receiver
I finally figured out the problem! My receiver only allows AC3 audio (a version of dolby digital) and only if I set my Macbook Pro's output to the correct refresh rate. Needless to say that's very stupid, but hopefully it can help someone else in the future. I don't suppose anyone knows of a way...- griffindy

digital audio to receiver
thanks guys, I'll take a look for these options / look into buying a mini to coax cable. does anyone know if that exists? I only ask since mini plug is based on light, and coax is based on electricity.- griffindy

Grado SR325i / AKG K701 / Sennheiser 650
I've only listened to the SR80i's and my current SR325is's, but I love them coming out of the Little Dot I+, which is a very cheap, but versatile hybrid tube amp with plenty of tube rolling opportunities and even op-amp rolling. I auditioned the K701's at the same time as the SR325is's...- griffindy

digital audio to receiver
hey all; so I have an NAD receiver with a bunch of digital inputs that I would love to make use of with my Macbook Pro. Unfortunately, it makes no noise when I plug it in. Now I've tooled around with the settings and made sure that everything was 'on.' The cable works because I can use it...- griffindy

The Official Grado 325i Owners Club.
#7339 here, shiny chrome edition. got these a few days ago to replace my SR80i's (which were only a month old, stupid upgraditis), and they sound fantastic. currently running from my Macbook Pro via toslink to a Keces 131 to a Little Dot I+. I had a choice at the store I bought these at...- griffindy

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!
Quote: I've found that if you hit command+shift+t (the open-last-closed-tab shortcut) even after you've quit chrome it will open all the tabs you had open before you quit, although I can't remember if it saves between restarts and I don't know if that only works on Mac OS X (which is...- griffindy

Need help deciding between SR325i and HD598, also amps
Quote: I bought it on eBay and the only thing different from a regular amazon-like purchase was that it took slightly longer, but probably only a week, which is pretty quick coming all the say from China.- griffindy

Need help deciding between SR325i and HD598, also amps
I'll just post another plug for the Little Dot I+. I don't know how much it would cost to chip to Isreal, but it costs $105 USD, which is pretty darn cheap, and it sounds great. Great options on tube and op-amp rolling if you choose to do so.- griffindy

currently listening to SR325is through a Little Dot I+. they have fantastic synergy together, and from I've read it seems hard to beat the bang for you buck on the LD I+. As for the SR325is, it sounds fantastic, though I can't say I've listened to the Sennheiser.- griffindy

Which DAC to choose...again
Quote: thanks for the advice TheWuss. I couldn't help noticing that you have a Keces DAC. I'm also considering the Keces 131, have you spent any time with that?- griffindy

Which DAC to choose...again
I looked up the DACmagic's stats and it has two WM8740 chips, while the audio-gd nfb-3 has two WM8741's. does anyone know if there is a large difference between these chips? especially since the NFB-3 is $130 cheaper than the DACmagic- griffindy

Which DAC to choose...again
Quote: I was afraid that might be the case. My current DAC only has a USB input, so it seems a little silly of StyleAudio to limit the input when the actual chip can do more.- griffindy

Which DAC to choose...again
thanks for the responses guys! as for my current DAC, I'm not entirely sure what it's capabilities are. From the website: - DA converter : Texas Instruments PCM1793 : 24bit / 192Khz sampling, 8x oversampling digital filter, Dynamic range : 113dB, THD+N : 0.001% - USB...- griffindy

Which DAC to choose...again
hey all; so I'm in a real pickle, also known as having upgraditis (I was hoping it would pass over me...psych). Like a lot of the threads around here, I'm curious to know which DAC to pick to pair with my current (and hopefully future) set up. What I have: currently a StyleAudio...- griffindy
