Grado GS-1000 Awesome but what nextt!!!!?????
GS1000 just needs a very very powerful power with lots of currents through it to make it shine, you would detect that its signature stays, 1. recessed mids are developed, and you get lots more details, 2. it's not a dark, smooth phone like senns, expects lots of separation, layers...- Float

why i won't spend so much
used a shure e3c, was fantastic to me, until i lost it. chanced upon a um2, great bass, but... 1yr later... 1 side was spoilt. for US$250 which I paid for, it's not acceptable. since there is a 1 yr warrenty, and it was 1 yr 1 mth when i took action, i was told, it's not warrented...- Float

classical music setup
try the GS1000 and a Senn 650. personally, i prefer a gs1000, 650 just can't make the cut with proper amplification. it's very rolled off in comparism to gs1000 from my auditions. pair a gs1000 with a good amp and you should have spent about $2500. that's all you need for your set-up.- Float

Are headphone amps pointless...
JazzHands, try to audition some if u are near any shops. if u like it, try a hi-end one or several hi-end ones, and save towards that. cause most of us here are on a upgrade route... it's cheaper to start and stop at the end.- Float

Stepped Attenuator ,Volume Potentiometer, and pots, need help
Regarding HeadLover's initial query on volume pots vs attenuator, I do not see what is so sinful/wrong of him to post his question. 1. Helpful Contributers. There would be people who would not mind sharing and would type in a fair bit of info, such as Pabbi1, JamesL, ... 2. Agitated...- Float

Which phones best for female vocals, piano, cymbals!
hope this is helpful for you, grados are more forward and brighter (being its sonic signature) something which I like and can live with, it has extended highs and powered properly, its details in mids would be emitted from the phones, meanwhile, I think its bass is reasonable if not adequate...- Float

Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 PRO vs. Etymotic ER-4P: Strictly for classical and jazz music
looks like the UE 5pro would be the iem that is less fussy about not having an amp to drive it, as i know that to get the bass from thee er-4, one needs an amp, and carrying an amp outdoors is not exactly contributing to light-weight, fuss-free travel. i would opt for an iem that performs...- Float

well, the beyers DT150 are very good close-ear headphones which I would purchase if I would buy only 1 pair of close-ear headphones.- Float

Grado GS 1000 Amp Poll
errr, GS1000 with the correct proper amp, the mids will not be so 'sucked out'. So for the general reader, if u are worried about the sonic signature of GS1000, if u match it with a more high-end amp, the mids will be very detailed and not 'suck in' as when it is underpowered...- Float

What amp "matches" the UE11's? (UE 11 pro headphone amplifier selection)
hmm, if ue11 needs an amp to drive it... makes me wonder why i spend so much on an iem after all.- Float
