$350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC
I think there's a couple 1/4 to RCA stereo options from Monstercable on Amazon. There were a few months ago when I looked, for my Herus.- EtymoticFtW

I use ER4S with Herus and I do not hear hiss. And I listen kind of quietly, not high volume. Source is iPhone 4S and MacBook.- EtymoticFtW

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?
I gotta, respectfully, disagree. I have both those albums and checked on this thread while I'm on the train and I think both tracks from Decemberists and Sam Cooke sound normal to me.- EtymoticFtW

Or swap ears. I think the first person to swap ears should get some kind of Head-Fi "most committed" badge on their profile.- EtymoticFtW

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
OMG, I just assumed Bluetooth. Wow my bad. Then I'll have to consider if going "playlist-only" is ok for me. Hmm. Anyway, I have a few months to decide until (if) the ZX1 launches in US. Q: anyone know if I can stream from a wifi hard drive --> to the Calyx over its wifi?- EtymoticFtW

I am. Between Sony ZX1 and this, both interest me. And physical buttons don't matter to me. I'm planning to use a Bluetooth smart device (bracelet or ring) to manage volume and skip fwd.- EtymoticFtW

ios7, iPhone and Apple CCK
As soon as I bought Random Access Memories in 88.2 I thought it would be a great demo album, so I bought the $10 Onkyo add-in. (And finally, Pure Music) so thanks Santa! Seriously I dunno if 88.2 in 88.2 or transcoded to 96 really makes much difference, maybe 10%?- EtymoticFtW

I've used Onkyo HF Player ($10 in-app to enable hi-res) to play from 4S to DAC via CCK. I'm sure other apps work too, but I haven't tried others.- EtymoticFtW

AQ DragonFly vs HRT MS vs Meridian Explorer vs Herus
Very happy so far w my Herus. I've only driven my Etymotic ER4S (100ohm) and NAD HP50 (36ohm) so I can't confirm it's less good below 30 ohm but with an output imp of under 1 ohm I'd think most headphones would be fine. Anyway I bought it to be able to play all types of resolutions and DSD from...- EtymoticFtW

iPhone 4S works for me, but I'm on iOS 7. Try that. Also it only works to my portable DAC. Not to my receiver or Oppo USB input. Regular music player and Onkyo HF player both work thru CCK, for me. Also, cheap Ziotek shorty USB A-B from Amazon to DAC didn't work reliably (pops n ticks) but...- EtymoticFtW

I think I went thru entire thread before asking. Apologies if this was answered. Q: anyone know where I could order a custom cable to incorporate the 30pin CCK and a short USB A-B cable all in one? Be willing to pay fair cost. This would be to link my iPhone4S and Herus DAC Thx- EtymoticFtW

Just to add, iPhone 4S with CCK working well via Onkyo HF Player to play through Resonessence Herus. I was waiting to post until I had played successfully all types 44.1/24 and 88.2/24 and 192/24 and DSD. I was skeptical but DSD sounds very clear, and 88.2/24 sounds great too. But it found just...- EtymoticFtW

$350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC
I'm no expert, but I've been told if you offload amplification to a basic amp (FiiO or HeadRoom or...) that'll help the iPhone last longer. I've noticed that myself with my IEMs but I dunno if it's true now that I have a Herus in the middle. And it's one more cable, so it's plus-dorky.- EtymoticFtW
