May you share the serial numbers? Mine is in the 400s. I've heard the first batch of Omega's (0 - 100/200) have the signature you describe.- dukeskd

That's a great take on it. Omega has the less lush and more neutral perspective compared to R10's rich tone and timbre. What is also deceiving about the R10 when compared to stats is how fast it is - even though it's utilizing outdated technology and has dynamic "organic" drivers.- dukeskd

The Omega may sometimes sound strange and unnatural due to the "diffuse" sound field/stage. Def prefer R10's holographic presentation in this regard which I think is a critical component of the aforementioned timbre.- dukeskd

Agreed. Classical and especially female vocals, R10s are out of this world. I own a bass light version but would def want to hear a bass heavy version.- dukeskd

Many might think that the R10s are vastly overrated or most of its feedback is based off its legendary aura/marketing from Sony. Don't believe that. When you try the R10, you will see that it is unlike any headphone ever produced in the past. There is a reason it still serves as an inspiration...- dukeskd

Love the banter and the weak sarcasm. From the impressions it was quite clear that it couldn't be the original drivers as I'd never describe them as dull/boring. The original drivers have remarkable tone and upper mid range qualities that is rare for a 'stat.- dukeskd

You are saying the same exact thing I am saying so in essence "non-sense". I have seen many of the 007 drivers in SR-Omega missing the rivets, especially if Stax did the driver replacements. Just FYI, I own a SR-Omega with original drivers.- dukeskd
