Lake People or Violectric for my HP's ?
For what I've read here and there, the G109 is quite different from both G100 and V100, the G100 being more similar to V100; I suppose (that's just a personal supposition, I have obviously no informations nor certainties about it) that LP lowered the quality of LP G10x series because otherwise...- daniele_g

Lake People or Violectric for my HP's ?
Grazie, Turo, so you had the chance to compare them, didn't you ? Some say the G100 sounds a little bit "thin" or "aseptic", what do you think about it ? thanks, ciao daniele- daniele_g

Lake People or Violectric for my HP's ?
Hi all, I'm looking for a new amp for my headphones, AKG K501 and K550 (I also own an old Beyer DT990, Etymotic H5 in ear and something else, but I very rarely use them); at the moment I'm not planning about new headphones, maybe in the future I may consider an ATH W1000x to give new flame to...- daniele_g

Ety HF5 don't seal: or is it me ?
first, I thank you all for your "encouraging" answers. I'll go watch the video on Etymotic web site. so you think the tri-flange tips are more isolating than the rolls (or whatever their correct name) ? I'll try them back again. if we don't "meet" 'round here tomorrow... I wish you...- daniele_g

Audio Technica W1000 Thread
Quote: I subscribe every word, except that I'm NOT sure that anyone could find an open HP with a similar sound: actually, I don't know any (including ATH AD2000, for example). than again, "upfront mids" could also be defined as "lack of equilibrium among ranges" or "colour", but the...- daniele_g

Headphones and Amps (how I understand it)
guess the question is not 'does it sound better with AN amp ?', but rather 'could it sound better with A DEDICATED amp ?'. I completely subscribe the mikeaj post. all devices -even the hp socket of a CDP, or an mp3p, or whatever- have some sort of amplification behind; and it is true...- daniele_g

Ety HF5 don't seal: or is it me ?
ops, one more question about water on the tips: is it enough to have them just a little damp on the surface ? I guess thay must not be drenched with water... must they ?- daniele_g

Ety HF5 don't seal: or is it me ?
Thank you scytheavatar, I'll try with water (actually, I did read about the water, maybe on the instructions or on these e-pages, but I had forgotten that advice ) and I'll try and wait some time. Anyway, should I push the tips further in ? Is there some 'golden rule' about the depth to...- daniele_g

Ety HF5 don't seal: or is it me ?
Hi, I listened to your advice and bought a pair of Ety HF5 (er... actually it was Santa that brought them to me: looks like I've been good this year). I have the need of a good isolation from outside noise, this was maybe the main choice criterion for me, more than sound quality itself...- daniele_g

IEM: need advice
I thank you all. You convinced me to an Etymotic model; it'll probably be HF5, but I'll think it over for a while before the definitive decision: as I told, I'm not in a hurry. I've also read a recent thread of comparison between HF2 and ER4 and the opinions there seem to go in the same...- daniele_g

IEM: need advice
one more question: I've visited the Etymotic web site and I saw the ER-4's have a retail price of 299$, but I've found them at lower prices in several other sites (e.g. Amazon), so that they are just a little above my budget; similarly, the HF-5 are way below my budget. so, I could have the...- daniele_g

IEM: need advice
thanks for your advice, I'll start getting some informations about Etymotics. (Marcus, the image of sleeping at Picadilly Circus in the rush hour was very convincing ! :-D) ciao daniele- daniele_g

IEM: need advice
Hi all, I'd like to try IEM's but I know almost nothing about them. I would use them mainly (or only ?) while travelling by train or plane, so one very strong instance is isolation from outside noise; together with sound quality of course. So, first of all: do you think I could get a...- daniele_g

Entry level headphone amp - better than Amp's headphone output
I have the XCanV2 and although I consider it a very good amp for the price, I would not recommend it with Denons and Grados and, in general, low impedance cans (note: I have Denon D2000, Alessandro MS2i and ATH-W1000). but with higher impedance cans (K501, DT880, DT990...) it is sure a good...- daniele_g
