Is anyone in the SF bay area going to CES 2004?

I am looking for a ride to the show in Las Vegas. I believe that the show runs 1/8 to 1/11.

HeadWize CES 2003 report is ready!

Hi everyone, I'm glad you're all enjoying the report. antness, I did not see any HD700 - unless that guy in one of the Senn pics auditioning what looked like the HD600 and the HeadRoom amp is really the HD700 and I forgot to ask. Is there a consensus that the designation of the HD600...

HeadWize CES 2003 report is ready!

The HeadWize CES 2003 Report is ready! It has hundreds of photos of exhibits and products, more than any other CES report I've seen so far. Auction to support HeadWize

Hi everyone, Jan Meier emailed me a few days ago to donate some items for an auction to support HeadWize. As many of you know, HeadWize is non-profit and financed to this point entirely by me - with the help of a donated server for the forums (thanks to Ian Scott et al. for this). This past...

    STEREOPHILE'S RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS 1996

Did they do a review of the Omegas? What did they say? I haven't seen the latest issue. Even so, one headphone review per year is hardly much. Especially since the Omegas have been available for over a year and there have been numerous reviews of this headphone already.

    X-PSU DIY project?

Yes, that's exactly right. Audio Advisor used to have a drawing of the interior of the X-PSU and it was nothing more than a transformer. The AC adapter that comes with the X-Cans supplies AC at the output so there is no capacitor ripple filtering. Perhaps there was RF filtering. I doubt there...

    STEREOPHILE'S RECOMMENDED COMPONENTS 1996

Stereophile has not reviewed a headphone in years. Apparently, they believe that their readers only care about speaker setups. Many of the phones on their earlier recommended lists have been discontinued. No more HD580, no more Stax Gamma, no more HP-1. And the same is true of the amps: no more...

    X-PSU DIY project?

In fact, you don't even need a toroidal tranny. A simple filament tranny housed in a steel case would work just as well - since the PSU can be placed several feet away from the amp. The cable is nothing more than a 2-wire with a DC power plug at the end. Of course, the X-PSU has that nice...

    Barebone Amp

If anyone else builds "barebones amp," please post pics!!! I love seeing these miniatures. Here are some ideas: pendant amps (basically attach a neck rope) headphone with built-in amp armband amps (amps attached to an armband) hat amps (amps built into hats? )

    My Cmoy

Gemul, That is excellent work. I am impressed with your SOIC "adapter". Hope you didn't lose your vision soldering those tiny, hair-like pins. And for just $20! I am glad to see that the pocket amp can still be a bargain to build. BTW, what type/brand of pot did you use?

HeadWize forums may stay down a bit longer

Ok, I've gotten some feedback on the olive background, and I've decided to change it back to gray. I have also changed the white background of the forum navigation bar to olive. The video reviews forum may not be active right away. I see that forum as primarily being for the review of videos...

HeadWize forums may stay down a bit longer

Hi aos, doesn't a black on light gray background have MORE contrast than a black on gray? I did try a light gray and it seemed to me to be both bright and very contrasty - almost like black on white on my laptop LCD screen. Lini, how about an olive background - which would pick up the color...
