Need a recommendation-IEM with a signature close to Ultrasone HFI 780

I haven't been around for a while, but I've misplaced my IE6s (which I didn't like that much anyway) and I'm looking for a good IEM with a sound signature closer to Ultrasone, specifically the HFI 780s. I've had Ultrasone Pro 900s before but they felt too warm and didn't seem as quick as the HFI...

    Ultrasone ... Neutral, Accurate, Transparent?

Quote: Yes, I do realize the 2900 is replaced by the 2500. Which means the 2500 is no longer top of the line and shouldn't be considered as so.   I didn't say the 780 is the top headphone for music, I said it sits at the top of the line along with the 2400, which it does.   The...

    Ultrasone ... Neutral, Accurate, Transparent?

Quote: Just because a headphone has a higher number doesn't mean it's top of the line. You're crazy if you think the 2500 can technically be considered a better headphone than the 900. MSRP wise, the 900 and 2900 are both are at the top of the Pro series line, and not enough people have...

    Ultrasone ... Neutral, Accurate, Transparent?

Quote:   If you haven't heard them, don't knock them. I've had the top models of both series, and would say the Pro 900s are technically better than the 780s, but not as enjoyable nor as musical and certainly not worth 3X the price.   @Santsant: Leakage doesn't really matter, I'm...

    Ultrasone ... Neutral, Accurate, Transparent?

Quote: I've had 2 pairs of 780s, one after another. Burn in definitely exists.   I'm seriously considering the 2500s now...has anyone had both the Pro 900s and 2500s? I found the 900s too laid back after having the 780s. If the 2500s are a little more upfront than the 900s but more...

    The Jeans-fi thread

Quote: My Diors and Thin Finns were probably my toughest pairs of jeans to fade. My Diors are MII though, I probably should of just bucked up and got either the MIJ or sexi08.

    SRH 840 v. HFI 780 v. DT 770 (Un-amped)

I can only tell the difference between a 320kbps mp3 and a flac if I listen to one after another. I can def tell if an mp3 is 192kbps or lower.   IMO, if you were to get the 780s it'd be better to power them with a Travagan's Red and use your ipod as a source with an lod. Or if you want to...

    SRH 840 v. HFI 780 v. DT 770 (Un-amped)

Quote: Despite their low ohm rating, the 780s need a good amp. Otherwise, they sound harsh and fatiguing.

    Denon AH-A100 + receiver + monster rant

If you're using HDMI then it won't matter what you plug into it because it will get decoded by the internal DAC in the Onkyo. No, HDMI cables do not matter and aside from their IEMs, monster is a joke.   You'd get much better performance out of your headphones if you get a dedicated amp for...

    SRH 840 v. HFI 780 v. DT 770 (Un-amped)

Do a search and you should find instruction from Kees. It's a simple mod involving felt chair feet and a thin sheet of cotton. It removes the bass bloat and evens out the sound sig making the 900s into a very good headphone. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks.

    30 Year Old AKG 240's?

Sextetts are 300 ohm....atleast the ones that I used to own were? Nevertheless, they do need a good amp to shine.

    Ultrasone ... Neutral, Accurate, Transparent?

I don't really think any Ultrasone can match the airyness of the AD700 sound stage. Ultrasone does do sound stage well, but it has a much different feel than the AD700s.   You might want to take a look at the 2500 instead of the 750. A lot of people like them better and they are open.

How to shorten the cable of Denon D2000?

How portable do you need the cable to be? Vampire is $0.50/ft for the 18awg on their website. I like this wire over mogami but it's a lot bulkier.
