Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

My idea of a perfect USB interface is that it would make all USB sources sound equally good, so USB on a Raspberry Pi will sound just like USB on a $5000 streamer. Well, nothing is perfect but my hope is that Unison moves the ball in that direction. This might imply that Unison is not of much...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

To those with the new Bifrost: How does the Unison USB handle inferior sources? I am running Roon on a NUC and the performance on my Gungnir Multibit is significantly worse using the NUC USB as a source compared to a Digione. I'd love to remove the Digione and the extra switch from my setup...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Assuming you aren't interested in Roon yet, Volume is certainly competent but a couple of things I don't like: 1) There is a brick wall between locally stored files and streaming service favorites. 2) Streaming favorites can't be sorted in any useful way. 3) And expect to pay extra to access...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I'm about to start building an Amp Camp power amp and I'm thinking now might be a good time to pick up a used Saga. I have a question about the specs though: In active stage the Saga says it has 0db gain but output at >10V. I'm in the beginning of my electronics studies but to me that doesn't...

I might be interested in a well priced spinner if the new Unison USB cards have two inputs. The input on my Gen 5 card is taken. Even though the CD transport will probably have other connectivity options, USB is where they are differentiating this device so it would be a shame not to use it.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

At this point I think that the market based reasons that Schiit wouldn't add ethernet to any DACs are persuasive. However, I don't buy the tech based reasons. RAAT does not require interactions with the users to run properly and "firmware" can be updated easily by plugging the device into a...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

A Schiit transport would be a great compromise. And once USB is solved we won't need the LPS, right? This does make me think of the Schiit-Pi.

Ha. I'm dreaming of a world where network bridges are a thing of the past.

Thanks for this. Definitely informative for me. Unison first! I agree. I hope it will be available on a user installable board for my Gumby.

Believe it or not, you can update software without a UI. Obviously we interpret Jason's words differently.

As a software project I bet the burrito filter puts the micro-rendu to shame. Just guessing.

I think Jason made that comment when asked if Schiit would be building a streamer. And I think he said he didn't want to build a UI, which would be required for a streamer but not for an ethernet port. Schiit writes software all the time.

I don't know what "roon tested" means except that you can plug a Schiit into some USB port somewhere and Roon will stream to it.

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The question is about built in ethernet. This is something that is showing up on more expensive DACs. I have a DigiOne and I know how all that works. Personally I like the idea of fewer boxes and fewer expensive power supplies. I hope that in 10 years we will look back at the bridge as a...
