This is a stupid question, but I just got my comply foam tips for ultimate ears super fi 5 and I see a little plastic ring in them that keeps them in their circular shape or whatever. Do I need to take them out before I put them in my headphones nozzle or not? I kept them in and tried to slide...

So my only question this is will I "know" when their time has run out, or will I just have to judge based on their appearance?

I just ordered a 3 pack (6 tips). Is there anyway that I can get a year+ out of these if I use them well(i.e not while working out or something that would strain them)? Will their sound deteriorate overtime or will they just break apart?
