Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
They have decent bass extension but not the best impact/punch. Best bass of any open headphones I've ever heard, however.- bleudeciel16

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I'm posting in this thread because everyone in this thread has probably used the HD650's (and probably owns a pair). I want to get new headphones for my wife. She likes around-ear headphones (with plenty of space because she complains about her m50's hurting her ears) and she likes bass...- bleudeciel16

Need lightweight, light clamping force, super comfortable headphones with good fidelity and good bass. < $400
My wife gets migraines every day. She's pretty sensitive to headphones, and needs a really light pair that has weak clamping force, but is still comfortable and still sounds awesome. While I personally prefer open headphones for the soundstage and airy sound, she prefers the bass of a...- bleudeciel16

Doing my first listen through the Crack w/Speedball. My chain: FLAC on PC > ASUS Xonar Essence STX > Digital Coax > Schiit Bifrost Uber > Crack w/Speedball > HD650 (silver mesh so newer one I'm guessing) More awesome than it already was through my Schiit Lyr. Don't think I'll continue...- bleudeciel16

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
Doing my first listen as we speak! I was impatient and it's 3am so I wasn't able to assemble the box quietly (hammers aren't known for being quiet, yeah?), so I used a copious amount of masking tape to temporarily hold it together while testing. Mids are definitely lush. Reminds me of...- bleudeciel16

Woot, my crack w/speedball shipped! Can't wait!!!!!! Also, I wish people would stop mentioning cables as an upgrade in sound quality. That's just plain myth that's making companies that sell these stupid silver cables rich, while screwing gullible newbies into buying that crap when they...- bleudeciel16

definitely microphonics. it never does that with my Lyr, but on my old little dot II++ amp, it had a lot of noises from the tubes. mostly while they were heating up. once they were heated completely (30 minutes or so), they'd stop making noises. didn't bother me though, I got used to it.- bleudeciel16

Upgrading from HD598
When possible, it's known that digital coax is still slightly better than toslink optical, and usually better than finicky usb. (though higher end usb converters are getting much better lately, like schiit's usb upgrade) I use my soundcard for the digital coax out. The soundcard I use also...- bleudeciel16

do they make log curve stepped attenuators, or do you have to buy an empty one and do the math yourself when picking precision resistors?- bleudeciel16
