I purchased mine from an authorized USA seller off of Amazon back in December.  I had no problem returning it and although I was assured I would be getting a "newer" replacement unit, I declined and will be getting a different player. 

I had the same issue and returned my unit -- it's been mentioned that the early DX80's had issues with RF interference, but has since been fixed.. you must have received an earlier version as I did.

True, but I'm talking about the general population as a whole... most people don't go around buying $7000 phones.  In today's market, new phones are amazing and they keep getting better -- even with the trend towards subsidized phones, $600-$800 is still not that unreasonable for a multipurpose...

Thanks!  I just download the trial version for a test and I can now output from the Note 8 USB to my amp/dac.  The full version is $10, which isn't a bad deal and it now gives me me 2 options at work for streaming music: phone, tablet -- I prefer the tablet as to not drain my phone battery.  ...

Thanks for all those replies about using Spotify on the AK models.  Yes, I know streaming isn't nearly as good as listening to a high-fidelity file, but I don't want to listen to my owned music 100% of the time.  I listen to Spotify 90% of the time to discover new music -- all this takes place...

I have both and both sound good depending on how you want your music to sound... yes, that's a "no-help" answer, but you really should try them both and see what you like -- nobody ever ends-up with just one pair of headphone, so don't think about it too much.  Just on a side note, I got a pair...

The best thing to do is demo the XCs yourself -- listening to music is too subjective. I use the Pico dac/amp combo with with XCs at work and it works really well.. if you've never seen the Pico in person, you'd be amazed at how small it is... very portable and very capable.
