Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I mean for the Internet music service it doesn't make any sense to transfer audio over expensive Internet with quality beyond 16/44, because that's sufficient information that human can hear. Transferring faster than this will cost more but add nothing. Then, if your equipment likes it, you can...- Androxylo

Ok, offtopic. I will not say anything except this link: https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html . It explains everything with math.- Androxylo

You changed the topic. The original post was about transmission, comparing music streaming sources. No, there is no point to transfer or backup music in any format beyond 16/44.1, there is no musical information there that human can hear. Yes, it makes sense to up-sample the 16/44 to 32/88...- Androxylo

I know everyone hates this discussion, but no, no human or humanoid can hear beyond 16/41 CD quality. It's snake oil beyond it.- Androxylo

Hi, any chance you stick any kind of speakers into Rag 2 for better picture? Nobody bothered to review it as a speaker amp yet. Zero.- Androxylo

For anyone owning Aegir with suppressed bass, can you please try this track: and compare with systems where bass is normal? You need paid account, sorry, with free account with low bandwidth this is inaudible.- Androxylo

Nope, this is not what I said. I said my desktop system produces better sound. It doesn't mean I don't like headphones. I like them more than lower quality stereo systems elsewhere.- Androxylo

Frankly I'm still very satisfied with my current desktop system, but I suspect that my 1992 model amp that I purchased back in 1996 can yield to something even better. I think upgrading the amplifier every 25 years or so should improve the sound. That's why I'm on this forum, waiting for Rag 2...- Androxylo

Interestingly, with my ancient desktop system I still get much better sound than with headphones. So I listen headphones only at work. Compare those and tell me why desktop (2 feet from head) still beats cans: Desktop: USB -> Khadas tone board -> power section (no preamp) Arcam Delta 290 ->...- Androxylo

Also, when someone is at home I mostly listen for classical music, because it's usually not using much of low end. So nobody hears me. After your posts I guess Aegir should be much better at classical than Vidar, because its main weakness is not in play here.- Androxylo

Perfect. The lack of bass is actually good thing for me because my wife hears when I listen from another room and asks me to reduce the volume. Extra mids can improve the sound at the max volume that is still not bothering others. Freya S should be a perfect match. But I'm still waiting for Rag...- Androxylo

Do you feel that a single Aegir has insufficient power? I'm looking for a desktop system 2 feet distance from my head. Need best quality at low volume. Ragnarok 2 is another option, but can't find any review yet.- Androxylo

Did you try Aegir as just one stereo vs 2 monoblocks? Does it still sound the same at low volume?- Androxylo

Nobody bothered to review Aegir as one stereo vs 2 Aegirs as monoblocks. I wonder if a single still sounds as well at low volume.- Androxylo
