Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Thanks so much for your help. Maybe in the future I'll think about second hands for upgrades. I've had lots of success in Singapore with the used market but its also a much smaller market where you can actually meet the seller/buyer.    I think I'll go with the topping tp21 + wharfedale...

Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Huh that's pretty neat about the subwoofers thanks. Always nice to have the possibility of upgrading. How do you deal with the overlap between speakers and subwoofers though? Unless they come from the same manufacturer I'm hazarding a guess that the frequency responses won't meet nicely...

Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Thanks for the recommendation on Wharfedales! Amazon carries them which is super convenient. Can't seem to find Indeed TA2021 but amazon has MUSE M21 EX TA2021 T-Amp Mini Stereo Amplifier 25WX2 - Gold. Would it be...

Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Thanks for your tips. Can't seem to find many reviews of the magna 200s which makes me a little cautious. I've done a bit of looking around myself. There's the Q audio 2010 which seems to come recommended and costs 125 pounds and its big brother the 2020 which costs 165 pounds at...

Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Thanks a lot for your reply! My budget is about 200 pounds so not a lot. I'm aware of some very nice amp+passive combos that exist in the US (infinity primus, dayton et al) that I can't get/find in the UK. I have found some common active stuff like audioengine A2, Klipsch promedia 2.1 and...

Want to buy speakers for <£200/<$300, have an Audinst HUD-MX2 headphone amp/dac and am confused how to proceed

Hi. Planning on buying a speaker set-up soon for uni in the uk for dorm/bedroom use. I'll bring my Audinst HUD-MX2 to university with me but I'm not sure what it can function as for a speaker set-up. Is it sufficient as a receiver and/or speaker amp? If not, should I be looking for an active...

Ear impressions with a perforated eardrum?

Huh I didn't think the wadding went all the way down into the ear to rest by the eardrum. The perforated eardrum is a permanent thing though. Had it since I was a baby so its a go or no go situation.

Ear impressions with a perforated eardrum?

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has done/knows something about getting ear impressions done with a perforated eardrum. I'm a tad bit worried about the risk of the injection mold getting too far into my ear and damaging my already weakened eardrum. Its probably an overblown worry and I shall be...

Is there earphone similar to a UM3X + less recessed highs + wider soundstage?

Quote:   Thanks a lot for your input. I don't think I can deal with the w4r as that the midbass hump is quite substantial. Depending on the song it can come across as "thick and lush" and some songs downright veiled. The midbass just swamps the rest of the register and impacts clarity for...

Is there earphone similar to a UM3X + less recessed highs + wider soundstage?

Well I had a listen to the W4, IE80 and the 535. So far no dice. The W4's frequency response sounded really compressed with a large mid bass hump (as opposed to the UM3X's lower bass hump) while being no greater at the highs. Some songs had a nice warm feeling while others became veiled. The...

Is there earphone similar to a UM3X + less recessed highs + wider soundstage?

I've heard the TF10 before and wasn't impressed at all by the sound signature. Sorry but not even living in Europe its going to be a bit of a stretch and more costly to get these anyway.   Sigh, so much contradicting information on the w4r vs um3x. More bass. No less bass. Rolled off highs...

Is there earphone similar to a UM3X + less recessed highs + wider soundstage?

Quote:   I think I might but I'm a bit paiseh since I probably won't actually buy it from them. Amazon too good a deal.   Quote:   Thanks. Does sound interesting but I'm not much for being a guinea pig when it comes to spending hundreds of dollars. Either my google-fu is lousy...

Is there earphone similar to a UM3X + less recessed highs + wider soundstage?

Hi. My UM3X has broke after quite a while and well beyond warranty. It was an odd but enjoyable journey while it lasted. I would have to take week-long breaks between listening to them. Every time I pick them up again I would be amazed by its fantastic pinpoint instrumentation separation and...

Shure SE 535 Reds Sennheiser IE 80 Westone 4-R ???

Well for starters the IE80's, if similar to the IE8s, won't have as much isolation as the 535s or w4rs by nature of their design. Any ambient noise leaking into your earphones is going to affect sound quality so yea, just keep that in mind.
