I've actually just closed the deal on a pair of Fostex TH-610's with another Head-Fi member. I've heard they're slightly more refined, plus they look better to me and are the only ones with a detachable cable. I appreciate your input though!

Alright, thanks for your help. But you think I'm on the right track here with the Denons and Fostex? They're all around $400+.

  So are they sonically similar enough that I shouldn't sweat it? Reading about the D5000's makes me drool a little bit, minus the fact that they aren't fully closed and their flimsy nature. Do the Fostex's keep up in the bass department? Are they more isolating?

Can anyone compare the D2000/D5000 to the Fostex TH-X00 or TH-610? I find the D5000s kind of ugly, but the 610s look awesome to me. Of course, SQ comes first.
