One of Stax’s most popular classic electrostatic amplifier designs, tube with solid state it does a very fine job of delivering very good musical results. A better and more flexible choice compared to current Stax amps retailing for less than $1,000.
In very good condition, no scratches, dings, works perfectly, sounds great. Multi voltage and is currently set for use here in the U.S., no transformer needed as the ones that were purchased in Japan do as they are 100 volts.
A big plus is that in addition to the two high (Pro) bias headphone jacks there is also one for the original Low bias (NB) Stax older phones. This format is no longer available on current Stax amps and if you have or plan to get any older classic Stax earspeakers you will have to find a similar variant like this one. As I have another Stax amp with similar topology (SRM006t) I am able to deal with my mixed collection of Stax earspeakers (Both Pro & Low bias models) and free up this one, I hope this can find a new home since I no longer need two of that type.
Preferred by many, it is in the less common black finish.

It will handle any Stax phones (new or old models) excepting the very inefficient SR007 series & the Uber rare original Omega which require one of the larger Stax amps like the SRM-717 or a modified SRM-727 or a custom built design. It works well with the 009 series and the new TOTL Stax headphone, the X9000. Reach out with any questions.
I hope this helps another enthusiast discover electrostatics or improve on their electrostatic set up. Easy way to get involved. Some of the older low bias phones were classics (SR-X mk3, SR-Lambda, SR-5, etc.
