When did you purchase it?
Which DAC chip? This can be determined by serial number tag on back - does it end with a “B” or “C” or neither?

There is no letter on the end of the serial number for this unit so I cannot confirm which DAC chip it has using that method (unless having no letter indicates it is one or the other)

No letter is the OG, using the earlier AKM chip, not that it matters…

I felt the same which is why I never looked it up, thanks for the clarification though. I got a few DMs asking which chip it had in it so I'll add that to the listing.

I didn’t know it was possible to have a AK4490 chip and the updated version of the remote control.

Yeah the updated remote is an open question. It might be an earlier 4493 version but definitely not ESS.

I wish I could provide some insight but I really don't know. All I can say is that I purchased it from Amazon in October 2021 and I am the first owner. It did not appear to have been tampered with or unboxed.

Every version of the ADI-2 measures beyond the threshold where I care about additional performance or can distinguish minute sonic differences, so I never bothered to follow-up on investigating which chip it had inside.

That being said, if anyone knows of another way to confirm the chip inside I will be happy to test it and add that information to the listing.
