For sale is the HE1000 v2 (non-stealth version), apparently the most undivisive version of the HE1000. I am the second owner and bought it on classifieds end of last year. It looked in excellent condition when I received it and then I put in around 2-3 hours on it while I was still zeroing in on what types of headphones I like. The condition is still excellent, only some slight scratches/marks on the metal headband and no other visual flaws. I’ve provided pictures of the headband.
I researched a lot in trying to decide between the 3 versions, the HE1000SE is supposed to be the most technical one but brighter than the sun, the Stealth version is more V-shaped, while the OG v2 is supposed to be the most laidback and diffused sounding of the three which felt right up my alley.
And it sounds just as I had read, everything in just the right amount. Sweet, smooth treble with fast, punchy bass; airy as well as having body; sounds not too close neither too far, definitely has that ethereal, enchanting presentation that makes sounds feel as they’re appearing out of thin air. Every aspect of the sound seems masterfully balanced to just create something that’s hard to find faults with. Though for treble sensitive people like me, pairing this with a warm source would be my suggestion cause otherwise it might just tip over to sounding a bit brighter than necessary on poor recordings that have their treble over-emphasized.
The OG v2 being discontinued by Hifiman will probably cement it as being the “best” HE1000 version just due to its eventual increasing rarity in the future, if it follows familiar audiophile trends. So, here’s your chance to nab one in very good condition. My only reason for selling is because I identified closed-back headphones to be more of my thing (or maybe e-stats, still undecided on that as I’m waiting on a good e-stat amp to ship).
