This is a catch and a release. The last edition of ifi's micro series. This has the upgraded ELNA Silmic II capacitors and newer XMOS chip so it can decode MQA. Probably at most 20hrs use I bought it in October. I'm selling this as I have too many portable units at the moment.

I've had all versions of this model and I can confirm this is the best sounding of the bunch. I even prefer this over the diablo for my ZMF headphones as this has a smoother sound.

One last thing tho if you dont mind me asking. This and the Signature both have an S-Balanced 4.4 output at the front. Is it really noticeable compared to the single ended or it's more of a battery saving thing? I am wondering this since I am unsure if I should invest into a 60 bucks balanced cable for my HD650s.

Oh the great cable debate. First, I do believe in better cables do make a difference, even if it's a small one if you're going to a better cable. If you're just upgrading from single end to balanced, I don't think it's worth it since the main benefit of balanced is more power and in some cases lower noise floor.

For ifi's s-balanced. It's not true balanced and it's more about the ability to use the popular 4.4 connection on their unit. I've tried both ends and don't hear a difference myself. In fact, I've read on the ifi diablo that the balanced is not as good or as powerful as the single end. I have the diablo as well and I don't hear a difference myself but I also don't have demanding headphones to make that claim.

So, to keep it short. Just save your money and put it towards something else you want to upgrade. I would say you'll hear more of a difference with a better usb cable or filter for the signature.

For the diablo, if i am not mistaken, the channels do mix together internally at some point so its not truly a balanced dac as well. It's great to hear that there's no difference in sound still.

I am more curious about how the battery behaves on the S Balanced cause on single ended I get around 3h at like 2 o'clock on Turbo mode with a 300ohm headphone.
