Probably cost. The Primaluna and Modwright kit is expensive. The R8 is like $850. OPAMP headphone outs are cheap. Maybe Modwright would modify it to do an amp stage coupled HP out.....

Yes, I did upgrade the tubes to Genelex Gold Lion KT88s and the preamp tubes. I have a mountain of NOS 6SN7s that I have from previous amps. I haven't upgraded the other tubes because they usually don't make a difference IMO.

I get that, but they should just omit it completely instead of being a pretender and having it on there. Including a subpar headphone out on an amazing speaker amp is very deceptive.
