Selling a unique LCD-3 Frankenstein here. I am the original owner. These started life as an OG LCD-2 from the very first run of production. About 2-3 years in to ownership one of the classic drivers failed. I reached out to Audeze and was informed that they no longer had any original classic drivers left available. They said they would make things right and to send them in. Nearly two months later this headphone showed up on my doorstep.

To my surprise their customer service went way above and beyond. They installed the then new LCD-3 Pre-Fazor drivers in to my old LCD-2 shell and installed an all new set of earpads and headband as well. The only thing that was original at that point were the original wood cups, the LCD-2 black outer grate shell and the original cables, plus the OG silk lined wooden box of course. I never expected an upgrade of this sort. I can only assume this was their way of saying thank you for supporting them when they were first starting out. Expectations were exceeded.

During that time period, where I was awaiting their return, I purchased an HD800 and started building a system around it. When the LCD returned I compared them with the HD800 and found that I had become too acclimated to the Sennheiser. Not too long after I moved to a new city for work and upon arrival these were stored away in a closet. They have been there ever since. The drivers have less than 20 hours on them and that's being generous, likely half that number.

$825 within CONUS. Shipping and PP included.

Those Are nice... I've never listened to any Audeze headphones (but own the HE6SEv2), but how does the sound signature compare to in the current Audeze lineup, if any?
Thank you

As you know there are many different models in both makers lineups, all tuned in different ways. But generally Hifiman has always been a more airy, lighter sound with a little less bass. Generally.

With the LCD-3 driver installed and the new cups is it essentially a LCD-3 pre fazer sound wise or different?

It's an LCD-3 pre fazor sound wise. As far as I know there's no size difference between the LCD-2 and LCD-3 wood cups that would have any influence on the sound output.

From my experience of owning both LCD-2/LCD-3 pre-fazors and HE6se V2, Audeze has a darker and smoother, more intimate sound, while Hifiman is definitely more lively and aggressive, slams and rumbles harder, has more openness and clarity, but without being fatiguing, at least for me. Not at all saying that Audeze is worse, just a different flavour.
Don't know how these actually compare with the current Audeze lineup, as I've never tried any.
