I net nothing with this price with all the cost of the parts.

I modded and sold one about a year back. This is sort of an evolution to it with different pads and dampening. To copy and paste what I said in the previous listing:

The drivers are the 50mm Peerless Tymphany drivers that are also used on the Kennerton Vali and Aurorus Audio Borealis. Highly capable drivers.

The overall sound signature is very Focal Clear-esque (non-MG). I'm not sure on a technical level how close they are to the Clear since I don't have them on hand at the moment.

Not going to release my secret sauce(s), or at least not yet. The only things I will say are that I use an AD700 as the chassis and that the headphones now have a 3.5mm detachable cable system. The cable included is the stock cable that has been re-terminated to work with the detachable system (it works, but I'd recommend getting a different cable). I've also tacked on a grill over the driver so that a finger or ear doesn't accidentally crumple the diaphragms. The earpads are Dekoni AD Elite velour.

There are minor cosmetic imperfections along the champagne trims and some marks on top of the headband. Otherwise, the headphones are in very good condition. I got these pads new literally 3 days ago. I've been tuning them with a personal set of Dekoni pads.

**Measurements made on my MiniDSP EARS (HPN compensation). Usual disclaimers apply here with the 3-5 kHz looking wonky on all headphones measured on it and the treble not being terribly accurate. In this case, the treble measurement is not accurate. There is no strong peak around 7.8 kHz that I can hear in listening nor in a tone generator. It's a pretty smooth response in listening.

This measurement compares my current mod (blue) to my previous mod (orange).

Nice work Feilong4. . Id easily take this over a Sennheiser 6XX.

Have you tried with less porous pads or hybrid?

Secret sauce damping? You dont run them plain? What do measurements look like undamped? Do you have meausuments with less porous pads?

I kind of want these even though Ive heard these drivers already in two other headphones not listed in your OP. Hyland and ETA. I think Ive owned an AD700 in past and remember they are quite cheap feeling compared to higher tier ATH. Does the enclosure/headband squeak or make any noise when wearing?

Yes, it'd be too dark and warm with less porous pads and I couldn't find a hybrid pad that has the thickness that I want. The material and foam Dekoni uses in this particular pad is near perfect to what I want in tuning this particular pair.

I changed the dampening paper on the front and added a ported piece of dampening paper on the rear of the driver to control the bass and upper midrange. I'm unsure what you mean by the measurements look undamped - can you clarify what you mean? I think I scrapped measurements I've taken with Brainwavz XL hybrid pads in a previous tuning.

Do you have pictures of the added grill? And how are the drivers fitted exactly? Need more pics please
The drivers are fitted on with blu-tack. Not exactly "high tech" or pretty but it gets the job done very reliably with the limited tools that I have. Since the material is malleable, I can easily fill in the gaps to seal the driver in place for better bass extension (since the Peerless driver is smaller (50mm vs 53mm)). The grill is a wire mesh that's tacked on with the fabric from an earpad that's also stuck on. This is more to prevent dust and hair particles from getting inside and the ear from rubbing against it.

Yes, the chassis does squeak a bit when moving my head.

1. Oh, I’d prefer more bass and less highs, so hybrid pads probably for me.

2. To clarify: Do you have measurements pre-damping mods? “To control bass” ... You changed the dampening baffle paper to something less or more porous? The holed filter paper on back of driver vent is to damp bass I presume.

3. Blu-tak works fine and is very convenient. Ive been using other products for adhesive or resonance control: Second Skin Damplifier Pro. Pricey dough. Nice work on the grill! The wire mesh you cut or did you source somewhere ~50mm grills?

4. I thought I remember squeaks. I had been recently removed from ATH AD2000 and AD900 and was dissapointed by AD700’s drop in enclosure quality. I bought the AD700 as a gaming headphone. Not bad for price but I cant tolerate the noise.

Thanks Feilong4. Ill pass on purchase but I much appreciate the information. These drivers are great value and might use in a diy headphone in the future. I just bought a DT880 for RP18 driver transplant mod, but if it doesnt work out then I may try the Peerless.

2. I have them for my 1st mod but that's with different earpads. I forget which ones I used for this one:

I changed it to something less porous. The paper on the back is to dampen the bass, yes.

3. I had to cut the wire mesh.

4. Yeah, I have a personal AD900 that I also put the same Peerless drivers in and the build quality is miles better. I did not know about it until I bought one way after I started working on AD700's.
