I use extremely high-end RCA cables (which retail for $6,890) as a headphone cable via adapters. However, they are wildly impractical to use in such a manner. I would like to venture further into conventional headphone cable upgrades, if only for comparison's sake.

The cable needs to have 2.5mm headphone connectors with thin shells that fit into the AudioQuest NightHawk.

1/4" termination is preferred, but something else may work as well.

I'm looking for something that retails for $300-600, as I already have a $200 cable and want more.

I can also do a trade. (I have a bunch of things listed on my profile.)

Send me a PM and let me know what you have!

You use $7,000 headphone cables on a $300 headphone?:thinking::thinking:
haha. Well, I've owned six figures worth of gear and have gotten rid of most of it...but haven't sold those cables yet.

As it happens, even though I owned plenty of $4,000 headphones as well as some five-figure loudspeakers, I prefer the overall sound of the NightHawk (which originally retailed for $600) despite its inferior technical performance.

Oh, and they are RCA cables, not headphone cables...but with adapters, I can use them as a headphone cable. They sound mindblowing, but are uncomfortable...hence this thread.

umm... Did you really sell all your other high end gear? I to continue to use my cheaper cans despite owning much higher end stuff. But, no offense, what you are describing sounds... kind of insane. XD

I was on the fence about whether I should pick them up. But I think I'll give them a try after seeing how much you liked them

I go through lots of gear. I sell off (or trade, etc.) most of it in general in order to try more things.

The other day I bought a Fostex TH900mk2, so I'm less interested in the NightHawk cable pertaining to this wanted ad.

What sounds insane exactly? The fact that I prefer the overall sound of the NightHawk over lots of high-end stuff?

It's definitely not superior in a technical sense. And I should have specified that I don't like the NightHawk more with all songs; just overall, with the widest range of material. With ultra-high-end headphones I owned (including the most impressive one, the RAAL-requisite SR1a), I would constantly switch between headphones depending on the music, whereas with the NightHawk, I can just listen to anything.

Okay that makes sense. I got the impression that you had recently owned a bunch top tier headphones and decided to sell them all after deciding the Nighthawk was all you needed. I don't think it's weird to have it as your favorite.

Oh. lol. Nah, I've been in the game for many years. Most of my past gear is listed on my profile. And I still wouldn't mind owning all the other high-end headphones not listed there.
