I am selling my ZMF Verite Burmese Padauk. These come with the ZMF wood box, standard cable 1/4", leather bag, and 2 sets of Verite pads (perforated leather and suede). Weight is 520 grams. These have rose gold rods and grill and magnesium chassis
I am luckily enough to live with in 20 miles of ZMF, so I dropped these off with them and had them complete a thorough inspection before selling. Per Zack "There's nothing that we can find wrong with it, it's a great set - those Burmese Padauk sets are super rare too, very cool"
Why I bought? I love great headphones and I am a hobbyist woodworker. So I love the idea of a well made (20 miles from me) headset made from my favorite materials. From a woodworks view, these are obviously made with care and to an impeccable standard.
What I thought of these? They are the best sounding headphones I have owned. I have Meze Emps and I have had Focal Stellia, Focal Clear MG and Focal Elgia. The Verite have had the best sound, second best sound stage behind the emps and second best comfort.
Why am I selling? Biggest reason, I simply don’t have enough time to listen to music. I have picked up cycling this year and I spend 10+ hours a week ridding. Between that, wood working, and family time, I don’t have much time to enjoy music. I had originally bought these for my work set up (Meze Emps at home) and found that a full headphone set up was a bit cumbersome in a work place. So have been using Airpod Maxes as its just simpler to use and doesn’t look as ridiculous when my staff and boss walk in my office. I wanted them because they are beauty and sound amazing, but i never use them and rarely look at them. Better to be loved by someone else.
Why am I selling these over my Empys? I have a very small head, and the Verites don’t fit stock. I had to add Dekoni Nuggets across the whole band to make them fit. This was a nice set up, but still not perfect. The Empys are amazingly comfortable (also set to their very smallest setting and then with the head band bent a little and they fit perfect) and their unique sound stage works best for my use (half video games and half listening to music). I bought the Verite as an impulse in my busy season. They are a stunning grain and are in great shape. I do want to get another set of zmfs some day, hopefully when I have more time to enjoy them.
I tried to capture the grain in the photos. Note that a lot of light is needed to appreciate all the grain, so some of the photos are with a lot of light blasted on them, to get a feel how the grain can change with light moving over them. Its beautiful. I have seen many photos of similar sets and the grain on these just pops compared to most.
