Audeze LCD 2.2 Planar Magnetic Headphones Pre Fazor Rev 2 (/w Frequency Response)

Very good condition pair of original Audeze 2 (Revision 2) planar magnetic headphones - the *pre* fazor model, made in 2012. This pair has been well looked after: the wood has been treated with Howard "Feed N Wax", as originally recommended. There are a few little marks commensurate with the age, which I have highlighted in the attached photos.

***I've included a current frequency response measurement in the pictures*** (Method - following Tyll, averaging a number of measurements, reseating the headphones in between to eliminate skew due to variances in position etc.)

Subjective Impressions
Rev 2 is renown for it's more organic sound compared with the later fazor editions, which have more emphasised high frequencies. Vocals and the midrange in general on these are excellent - there is an organic quality to the vocals that is devoid of sibilance in a way I've not experienced on any other headphone. Low end is nice and flat and has good sub-bass extension. The reason for sale is that I am now downsizing my headphone collection for financial reasons and due to hearing problems/sensitivities have changed my main headphone amp is an OTL valve amp for a very warm, soft sound - with OTL amps not being ideal for planars I cannot experience the full benefit of what the LCD 2 have to offer - they've got to go to someone who can!

Sale includes:
  • The original balanced 4-pin XLR and 3/4" single-ended cables
  • Large bottle of Howard "Feed N Wax" wood polish and condition - the same product that was originally included with the LCD 2s that featured this wood type
  • Original flight case
  • Official/original Audeze LCD leather ear pads (£80) that are new and thus free from wear

I have confirmed with Audeze that these are definitely the original Revision 2 edition, since I don't have a certificate etc: see serial number in photos and excerpt from Audeze correspondence below:

"In general, we feel that the designations known as Rev1, Rev2 and Rev2f correspond to the following characteristics:
-Rev1 (aka LCD-2.1): Original driver version
-Rev2 (aka LCD-2.2): Thinner metal for traces with less mass for better sound resolution and high frequency response
-Rev2f (aka LCD-2.2f): Thinner diaphragm film for additional mass reduction, better sound resolution and more bass definition; with Fazors for improved phase response, better high frequency extension and better imaging.

To identify the Rev version of a given pair of LCD-2s, we use the serial number to determine two things:
1) their production date, with anything produced on or after June 16, 2011 being Rev2
2) serial numbers with the first two digits of 54 are Rev2f (meaning they have Fazors).

We show your headphones were made 1/9/2012, so they would be Rev2 according to Head-Fi terminology."
