1st owner, purchased Feb 28th. No defects to my eyes and have always been treated very gently.
Got maybe 75 hours on these, most likely less; probably about 5 hours on the stock pads with the remaining 70 split between the sheepskin and hybrid.
Removed 2/3 stickers and adhesive on each cup, see photos.
Most comfortable and wide set of full-sized headphones I've ever had. Would've liked to keep these forever, but just made a big purchase recently so trying my best to downsize.
Comfort and sound wise, I preferred the sheepskin, though I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Sennheiser neutral

Supposedly to bring it closer to the 800s. You can check https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/drop-sennheiser-hd-8xx.25588/review The comments under the first review discuss it a bit.

I haven't heard the 800s, but imo removing the stickers basically makes it less wonky sounding and more neutral in the treble. Like I had these heavily EQ'd before though between pad rolling and the mod I don't bother any more.
