I'm putting up my Mjolnir Carbon CC electrostatic headphone amp up for sale. I've received it few months ago and it's in excellent condition (the same as I have received it). I've had a lot of audio equipment over the years and I can tell this one ranks up there with the best of them. Utter control over the entire audio spectrum, with crystal clear transparency (if the rest of your system allows it), however, it is not at all dry or mechanical sounding. No need to worry about tubes. The CC version has several upgrades over the regular version, and if you're one of those audiophiles that always have a nagging feeling wondering how much better the top of the line version sounds...well...here's your chance to get the CC version for the price of regular Mjolnir.
In the name of full disclosure, there are 2 things that need to be pointed out for the "perfectionist" crowd. None of these have any negative sonic impact, and are probably not that surprising given the "one man shop" that Mjolnir apparently is.
First, when initially put on my audio rack, I had a bit of a wobble, because one of the feet were about 1mm above the surface. I've had various results when amp has been placed on different surfaces, so your mileage may vary depending what's going to be underneath the amp. This has been solved by loosening up 10 screws that hold the top plate in place a bit (super easy). They don't stick out, but my guess is when fully tightened, it pushes the top plate a bit against the rest of the frame, causing a slight imbalance.
Secondly, only visible when you know where to look, like on the 3rd picture, supposedly due to the manufacturing process there are few holes drilled on both sides of the amp hiding inbetween the "gills". I can imagine some people not noticing it at all, but again, full disclosure and wouldn't expect to get the amp in any other shape if I was ordering again.
This is an end game piece and I am in no rush to sell. Price is "cash and carry", Paypal fees if applicable are extra, as well as flat $100 shipping to lower USA. Save over 2 grand and a waiting time.
