First thing's first. Here's the link to the Google Photos album that shows this headphone in all its glory: https://photos.app.goo.gl/T3UqjVYzeW2Rffo46

I'm the original owner of this headphone. I purchased it new, direct from Audeze on Dec. 31, 2011 (apparently it was a NYE spontaneous purchase; I'm guessing alcohol was a contributing factor). It's a pre-fazor model, which is something that I appreciate based on what I've read about the fazors and their sound signature (personal preference). This headphone has never had any issues or required repair.

I ordered this LCD-3 with leather ear pads. Those ear pads, and the leather headband (which was the only headband option at the time), made the headphone less than comfortable. I lived with it for many years, and to be honest I didn't mind too much. The sound was fantastic. I originally listened with a Leben CS300SX and then with my current amp, a HeadAmp GS-X. Both paired very well with the LCD-3.

Eventually I decided to investigate ways to improve comfort. On Dec. 31, 2016 (I can't believe that coincidence) I bought a carbon fiber headband and leather-free ear pads direct from Audeze. I swapped out the old headband and was extremely happy with its comfort and fit. A massive improvement in my opinion.

Swapping out the old ear pads required a bit more effort for someone like myself. I'm inept when it comes to this type of thing. Removing the old ear pads and cleaning up the old glue went well. I then put on the new ear pads and for a short time I was pretty impressed with my handiwork. At first glance everything seemed fine, and the airy, breathable, pillow-y goodness was super comfortable. Then I noticed that the two ear pads weren't perfectly aligned. One was rotated slightly askew from the other. One of the photos that I'm including shows this very well.

This idiotic mistake isn't noticeable when wearing or handling the headphone. But it detracts from what would otherwise be a visually perfect headphone. Hence the reason I'm rating the condition as "good" rather than "excellent/like new". Plus I find it hard to rate something "excellent/like new" when it's almost 10 years old.

So there you have it. That's my story of this headphone. I'm sad to sell it but for the past couple years I almost exclusively use my HD800.

The headphone comes in the original box with all original material as shown in the photos.

I will ship for free via UPS Ground to anywhere in the continental US. This is the only shipping option I offer and I will not ship to any other location. Also note that I cannot ship before Nov. 20, in case this sells prior to that date.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like more pictures. I'm happy to oblige.

Man, I have been looking for a pre fazor and would have paid a lot more. Someone got a good deal.

Yeah, I'm not sure if people resell on here(or if it's allowed) but I would be wary with that sale price lol.

Well I got my asking price, so I can't complain (even if I want to, lol). And the person I sold it to is a long-time Head-Fier so I'm pretty sure he's a wholesome individual. :innocent:

I think I would have paid 4 times as much. My favorite headphone of all time.
