Well, as I said before - it's a $50 Chinese DAP and don't know how high expectations people have. From what I could gather from the Russian forum, it has a bit high output impedance and is a bit picky about the iems or headphones you plug into it as there were some mentions of channel imbalance and bad synergy. On the other hand, the same guy says that it can drive the 250-ohm bayerdynamic dt250 and that it is a great pairing and that pairing compares with ihifi760+dt250.
Also, there seems to be auto-resume but it only resumes to the song you're playing but not to the exact part in it. Within the next 10 days people here should start receiving their units and we'll know firsthand how it sounds and performs. I personally have realistic expectations and the only thing I'd expect it to compete against is a sansa clip.
How about we wait until one arrives, we have been supprised before...let's stop guessing or matching it up to other players. Can't wait for the x2 to turn up. Little supprise maybe.....
Apparently Penon were aware of some quality control issues with X2, I heard they're testing each unit individually before sending. Reassuring for those who ordered through them. Its actually not uncommon, such as my Colorfly CK4 purchase Penon checked the unit and change the lauguage to your countries destination. Have you ever wondered why most of the time you order a Chinese player from Penon Audio based in China it arrives in the right language? Well, that's probably why..

Well, that's good to know and not really surprising given penon's excellent service - they've come a long way since just one of the many sellers on ebay.

I also see you mention someone on the Russian forums compares X2 to IHIFI 760. Having owned that DAP Its decent sounding. Providing X2 doesn't exhibit many user obstacles and we all receive an XDuoo without reversed channels or imbalance or bits falling out there'll be something unique about the sound.

Yeah, as long as it doesn't have major issues and sounds decent - it should be a nice entry-level DAP. I'm not expecting it to compete with higher-end stuff - I'm just looking for convenience. I'll still get something more hi-fi, at the moment am very interested in that new lotoo paw 5000 because of the snappy UI and balanced output put the x2 will be a nice small player for a daily beater and the gym.
Is this DAP's amp section constant current like the cMoyBB type amps which aren't good pairings for Planar headphones? Or does this DAP drive Planar headphones well since to drive higher end planars the amp has to be able to output variable current due to the purely restistive nature of planar diaphragms.
Looking at the hardware on my machine the X1 shows as an Emgeton device, I wonder if something similar sits in the X2. Getting to the stage where I am watching out for the postman now.
