A book by Heinrich Eduard Jacob, Joseph Haydn: His Art, Times, and Glory
(Haydn, seine Kunst, seine Zeit, sein Ruhm)

Very well written book which gived a great insight in Haydn's personality, his music and the 18th century in Europe..(prologue by Thomas Mann)

I read lot of books but this one I really recommand to anybody interested in Haydn.
Can be found on Amazon 2ndhand for 7 bucks!
