Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, a classic RCA Living Stereo recording. Superb natural sound as was generally the case with these recordings which used minimalist miking techniques and top grade recording gear. Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony Orchestra does an excellent job. Features A Night on Bald Mountain one of my favorite classical scarey pieces.
Most of these early stereo recordings were from the early 1950's through the 60's and original LP's in good condition are highly sought after and can command top dollar prices. Look for some of the reissues by Chesky, Classic Record LP's and JVC using their XRCD processing. That said even the Sony and BMG reissues on standard CD with reasonable pricing will showcase the quality and care that went into these early stereo recordings. Highly recommended.
