After reading for sometime about Bach's St. Mathew's Passion being one of the great classical masterpieces...I've been tackling this massive work for the first time while listening to The Great Courses: Robert Greenburg's Bach and the High Baroque audio CDs. He devotes 4 CDs to analyzing this piece. Wow. This reminds me of studying King Lear in college. A lot of effort with great rewards.
