Have you heard the NE5532 from Signetics.

Yes, I want to compare Signetics to Raytheon, from an outside perspective Raytheon should be better quality (actually Signetics were known for quality issues, it's just that they also happened to make the early NE5532's which people liked) but I'll bet the lesser known Raytheon's will be better, just didn't fall into hype due to scarcity.

Also I think the RA3678C from Aliexpress might be fakes, as they are selling for $2 and the package and print is a bit off, compared to this one which looks legit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-RA3678C-Encapsulation-DIP-8-/131832056431

@vapman, Are these the correct ones, we have to buy, double AD825 on a pdip adapter since it a single channel op amps

Whaaat, there is also a low noise, high temp, ceramic case version from Signetics/Philips called SE5532AF, but it's barely sold anywhere and it's expensive! (ceramic case opamps all are). I'm so getting one though!

Ok here is a cheap one: https://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/SE5532AF-1901751.html

The only ebay result:

GBP 24.89 Approximately US $30.83

The first time in my life i've seen GBP be lower than USD. I need to buy so many supplies from the UK for my  Atari ST's still...

If there is 2 of them on one unit so it operates as a dual, it should work, but i have not tested one like this.

Ok, so I'm getting Signetics NE5532AN, Philips SE5532AF and Raytheon RA3678C. I already have JRC and TI 5532.

Battle of the 5532.

I'll probaly pick up the other 5532 varieties locally and make a shopping list for SE5532AF since they won't be open until after CNY.
I've been meaning to try the Signetics and Philips 5532's for a while, I should get a Raytheon 5532 as well - several family members used to work at Raytheon...

Not that exact one as it is there =no. You need a DIP8 format, the ones with the 8 pin legs= the format you linked needs to be expanded to fit in the Walnut socket.
That one you linked will need to be put on an adaptor.
As well it is a single channel opamp only ( mono ) so for stereo you will need it on a DIP8 adapter like the lower link, which routes 2 of the mono opamps together to make stereo , using the walnut's stock single amp  socket.

Just replaced the opamp in my "spare" Walnut with OPA2228PA. Found an ebay seller with em for $5 + 2.50 shipping but they'll accept a $2.50 offer. Initial impressions, they have the potential the make me prefer the OPA lineup again, but more listening is necessary. It's much crisper than the JRC opamp i had in there. the JRC is still one of the better choices for tubelike sound.
