Looking for an over-ear, closed back, leather -free headphone that isn’t super picky about amplification (will sound good out of a Yamaha AS-801 headphone output). what are my options?

What’s your budget?

Well right now I’m listening to Grado 125’s I bought in 2003! Two little kids, so very occasional listening while my wife watches something I don’t care for. Cheaper the better, I guess? Maybe up to 400?

what’s up Baltimore...I’m in Annapolis

Is Leather Free completely Vegan though?

Anyone look into the Vegan friendliness of all the materials in the plastics and drivers etc?

a fair question and no. That seems pretty tough. I try to make choices where I can. Leather seems like the obvious win.

more concerned with sound getting out than in. I’d happily use my HD600’s but too much sound leakage and hey...kind of in the mood to try something new.
The E-Mu Teaks are pretty great in that regard. pretty easy to drive too. id imagine the Fostex TR-X00 are pretty similar.

cool, I’ll check both out. Thanks. I’d seen the Fostex’s on Drop. Have never heard of E-Mu

Same driver, modified by the E mu team at Creative. They are a little less recessed in the mids, really quite a nice sound overall.
They show up on Massdrop from time to time.
One of the advantages is that their tuning works quite well at lower volumes too.
