usb to rca or coaxial

The problem is that to use the internal DAC of the Marantz, you need to feed it a digital signal.

My concern is that most USB -> S/PDIF (TOSLINK or Coax) converters are USB powered, like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/USB-DAC-PCM2704-Optical-Converter/dp/B0093KZTEA
and this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2QJK5
and this:
http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Advantage-Digital-Adapter/dp/B0036VO4X4
and this:
http://www.amazon.com/Ha-Info-U2-SPDIF-Converter-TE7022L/dp/B006WU7E92
and this:
http://www.amazon.com/Peachtree-Audio-T1-24-96/dp/B00AEN0SIW
and this:
http://www.amazon.com/PHIREE-U2S-Converter-upgrade-version/dp/B00OMPAOO6

That would be fine for a PC, but not for a phone.

It would be much easier to have a device that obtained it's power from it's own A/C power supply. That's why I suggested the Audinst HUD mx-1. It has S/PDIF output AND it can be powered externally.

HOWEVER, if you are going to buy a device like the Audinst HUD mx-1, then why not just use the DAC in the mx-1 (or the Modi)? There's really no benefit to the Marantz DAC over a good USB DAC. If your Marantz had the ability to accept the USB OTG directly, then the answer would be much different.

If you can find a USB->S/PDIF converter that is externally powered AND cheaper than a readily available externally powered USB DAC, fine - go for it!

x2... the confusion here is PC USB is NOT universally compatible with Android / cell phone USB.
OP, youre definitely going to want a device thats powered externally.  You would not want a device that tries to draw power over USB from your cell phone.

I found this receiver. What opinion do you have about this ?

I can't offer any specific opinion on any of these products as I have never tried them personally.

If it were me, I'd opt for a local retailer first, before Amazon and ebay would be an absolute last resort.

My local best buy stores for example sell the rocketfish aptx converter... which is almost the same thing as the ones I linked previously.

IMHO nothing beats local B/M retail convenience.  I can't say for certain how reliable these devices are with your particular phone in your part of the world.  Read the amazon reviews carefully, many of these devices have their share of negative feedback... some of which center around reliability of the BT connectivity.

Yes, a externally powered is always better.
The audinst you mentioned is not available here.
Only audinst hud mx2 used is available for 200 usd.

So i was considering :

That doesn't seem like that's what that device does. It has separate left and right channel outputs. It's obviously converting to analog.

It is a simple wire, so as no electronic devices, so no conversion taking place.
Android, connecting through usb side will send digital signal and the rca outputs will give the same digital signal to the marantz.
So i guess the marantz receiver will get a direct stream of bits

About the receivers, is there any specific characteristic i should search for. Will it create a difference in sound quality ?
Here there are no such stores that sell such products... They are completely unaware of existence of such products... So that being not a option... I have limited choice of ebay and amazon only...

Backup. Get rid of your misconceptions.

It is not just a simple wire. Look at the pictures. It has a little plastic box in the middle. That's going to be the cheap audio DAC and video converter.

And you are wrong. Go read your manual. Your digital input choices are optical, HDMI, and coaxial. All those left/right red/white RCAs on your receiver? Those are for analog. They will not accept a digital signal.

Moreover, I have never seen a digital signal for audio that is transferred via a separate left and right cable. It's always one cable. On the other hand, for DECADES red and white RCA cable connectors have signified left and right analog usage.

These are the same ones i guess... We can clearly see that there isnt any box now. And i was thinking about something like this.
I also have the same facts in mind u mentioned above. But then this cable is used for providing tv out which is audio R + L and Video.

This is one more i got. Do different receivers create a difference in overall sound output ?

The above statement is not true. USB, toslink optical and coax are all digital bit stream signals (1s and 0s).  RCA (the red and white ones) are analog AC signals.  Digital output goes to digital input.  Analog RCA output goes to analog RCA input.  The two can not be mixed.... without a conversion stage in between.

I am not sure about that.  I would suspect as long as the receiver is aptx codec capable then there would be negligible difference.

I understand exactly what that cable is for. Red/white, and yellow audio and video connectors indicate non-digital, ANALOG output. And the red and white left/right RCA jacks on your receiver are for ANALOG input. Sure, you can plug it up to your receiver, but If you want to have your receiver decode the digital transmission with its built in DAC, you MUST use the HDMI, coaxial digital, or optical inputs. You don't have left and right digital inputs, do you?

Now, it MUST be converting digital to analog for that cable to do what it is intended to do. So you could use it, but it will NOT be using the DAC in your receiver to decode a digital transmission. And IMO, a $7 cable that coverts digital to analog is probably not going to be very good. It is a good bet that the DAC in your phone is better.

But if you want to be stubborn about it, it's your money. Why don't you go buy it, try it out, and tell us how it worked for you, rather than arguing that the cable is something it is obviously not? No one on Head-Fi is going to tell you that the cable will give you digital output. So what are you waiting for? Buy it, or move on and lets talk about something else that might actually fit your needs.

No that cable is not going to do what you want.  I can't say for certain exactly what that cable is designed to do, but I am fairly certain it will not take a digital USB bit stream from your android phone and properly convert it to analog RCA for your marantz RCA input.

Exactly. That cable will not work to do what the OP wants to do. OP: Spend the money if you want to, but please come back here afterwards so we can all laugh at you and say "told ya so"... :p

I'm always curious why people ask the question if they are just going to disagree with the people that try to answer their question.

I have a cd player which has rca out and a coaxial out. If i connect the white and red from rca to the receiver, i ll be using the dac in cd player, right ?
And if i connect it through coaxial, i ll be using the dac of marantz. right ?

Correct.
