So if you bought the standalone redbook CD, time to trade it in for the vinyl/cd doublepak! Petty must be a Head-fier!

I hope we start to see this filter out a little more, but with Reznor and Petty behind the anti-loudness war, we've at least got a decent start.

Too bad I have to pay $30 to get the 'good' CD that comes with vinyl I don't want instead of paying the $10 'bad' CD price.

Just listened to "Lover Of The Bayou". The song rocks!

I'm annoyed that the article paints it as though there is some intrinsic quality of vinyl that prevents it from being sourged by excessive dynamic compression.

Thanks Jahn and scott_d_m. My order has been placed. Still not sure why my searches ( both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca ) only found the original $9.99 CD. It should be fun A-B ing the CD and vinyl with this combo.

Thanks, James (and Scott for the Amazon assist). I've got a copy on order now. Really cool idea to package it this way.

BTW, I really liked Highway Companion on LP. It's a Steve Hoffman job. Nuff said.

Why not make CDs double-sided, on the side A it'd be the compressed good for the masses and the bee side had the better mastered version. It is barely any extra cost on production, only real loss is the cover graphics of the disk.
